Marco Polo was born the 15th of September 1254.

Marco Polo (1254-1324) was a Venetian merchant believed to have journeyed across Asia at the height of the Mongol Empire. He first set out at age 17 with his father and uncle, traveling overland along what later became known as the Silk Road. Upon reaching China, Marco Polo entered the court of powerful Mongol ruler Kublai Khan, who dispatched him on trips to help administer the realm. Marco Polo remained abroad for 24 years. Though not the first European to explore China—his father and uncle, among others, had already been there—he became famous for his travels thanks to a popular book he co-authored while languishing in a Genoese prison.

In collaboration with Comune di Venezia, Vela Spa, Actv e con il sostegno della Regione del Veneto e della Camera di Commercio di Venezia Rovigo

Consorzio Promovetro Murano presents the first exhibition-event held inside a vaporetto and entirely dedicated to celebrating the artistic glass of Murano.
The project, unique in its kind, is curated by the start-up rehub with the artistic direction of the architect Matteo Silverio. For the occasion, the interiors of the boat have been completely redecorated with Murano glass, becoming an art installation themselves. From 14 to 22 September, the floating space thus re-adapted will host various events dedicated to glass and an extraordinary anthological exhibition of about fifty works, created by seventeen companies licensed to the Vetro Artistico® Murano brand.

The Venice Glass Week is an international festival founded in 2017 to celebrate, support and promote the art of glassmaking: the artistic and economic activity for which the Lagoon City of Venice has been renowned around the world for over 1,000 years. The eighth edition of the festival will take place around Venice, Mestre and Murano from 14th to 22nd September 2024.

The Venice Glass Week is promoted by Comune di Venezia and organised by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, LE STANZE DEL VETRO – Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti and Consorzio Promovetro Murano.

Steeped in History “The Glass Cathedral - Santa Chiara” is one of the most ancient structures on the Island of Murano. The Former Church has hosted nuns, exalted Doges , Napoleon and even Casanova. Recently restored and reopened to the public today it offers the ideal balance of Ambiance, Entertainment and comfort for Corporate Events, Private Parties, Masquerade Balls and all of your Events in Venice. During the day you may assist regular Glass Blowing Demonstrations with the possibility of sipping a good prosecco while watching our Glass Masters at work.
