From Triumph to Tribulation: My Entrepreneurial Journey

As I sit here, reflecting on my journey with Debs All Occasion Selection, I'm reminded of the wise words: "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." My story is one of resilience, determination, and the unyielding spirit of entrepreneurship.

It all began with a dream to create a unique business that brought joy and satisfaction to customers with real-life customer service that I found so lacking in my beautiful country. Debs All Occasion Selection was born, and I poured my heart and soul into making it a success.The thrill of entrepreneurship coursed through my veins, and I was unstoppable.

But life had other plans.

A sudden setback changed everything. I underwent surgery on my midfoot, expecting a straightforward recovery. Instead, complications arose, and my world was turned upside down. As a diabetic, I faced additional challenges, and the road to recovery became fraught with uncertainty._

Dark days followed. Demotivation crept in, and depressing thoughts threatened to consume me. The very thought of getting back to my business seemed insurmountable. How could I keep going when my body was failing me?

And yet...

My entrepreneurial DNA, inherited from my parents, BEV AND MACK, refused to let me give up. I remembered the countless hours, sweat, and tears invested in Debs All Occasion Selection . The fire within me, though dimmed, still flickered

In the midst of adversity, I discovered a newfound determination. I decided to pivot and launch , focusing on training and development for food service professionals e tal. This new venture reignited my passion, and I found solace in helping others grow.

Lessons Learned:

*Resilience is key: Life will throw obstacles, but it's how we respond that defines us.
*Adaptability is essential: Pivot when necessary and find new opportunities.
*Family legacy: Embrace your heritage and let it fuel your determination.
*Laughter is medicine: Find humor in the struggles, and don't take yourself too seriously.
*Never give up : Even when it feels impossible, keep pushing forward.

Breast Cancer: A Caregiver’s Journey

Breast cancer. It’s a word that holds more than just medical weight—it carries emotional, psychological, and physical burdens. Breast cancer isn’t just a disease; it's a journey that encompasses hope, despair, love, and resilience.

What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer begins in the cells of the breasts, where they grow uncontrollably, forming a tumor. Tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Malignant tumors can spread to other parts of the body, making early detection and treatment crucial.

A Caregiver's Tale: My Mother’s Battle

In 2016, my world was turned upside down. My mother, my rock, my hero, was diagnosed with breast cancer. From the moment of her diagnosis, our lives became a whirlwind of doctor appointments, treatments, and Doctor visits. Being her caregiver wasn’t just a role I took on; it became my identity.

The early days were filled with a mixture of fear and hope. Chemotherapy sessions were grueling, draining the color from her cheeks for days after, but never dimming the light in her eyes. She was exhausted but still determined. She faced surgery before that with a brave smile ,still pushing her real estate business, even as the physical toll of the disease and treatment weighed heavily on her.

Despite the overwhelming challenges, there were moments of joy that punctuated our days. We laughed, we cried, we reminisced about happier times, we talked about my nieces ...her grandkids.We celebrated the small victories, like a good day where she felt strong enough to take a short walk or enjoy a meal. These fleeting moments of happiness were our anchors in the storm.

In 2017, my mother's battle came to an end. Her passing left a void that could never be filled. But in her final days, she taught me the true meaning of strength and love. Her journey, though heartbreaking, was also a testament to the human spirit's ability to endure and inspire.

The loss of a loved one to breast cancer is a profound and painful experience. Yet, it also brings a deep sense of purpose. In memory of my mother, I have become an advocate for breast cancer awareness, sharing her story in the hope that it might help others, starting an educational grant in her name. Her legacy lives on in every life touched by her journey and in every effort made to combat this relentless disease.

Breast cancer is a battle fought not just by those diagnosed but by their loved ones and caregivers as well. It is a journey filled with tears and laughter, despair and hope. By sharing our stories, we keep the memories of our loved ones alive and contribute to a future where fewer families have to endure the heartache of this disease.

Always cherish the moments you have with your loved ones, advocate for regular screenings, and never underestimate the power of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
