Today marks the 60th anniversary of the Kendal train accident; the city of Mandeville will pay respect to the crash victims by having a ceremonial wreath-laying event. The crash was the worst railway disaster in Jamaica's history.

It was an honour to provide the wreaths and flower arrangements for this event.

This past weekend, Elegant Events and Designs had the privilege of decorating for the 80th Annual International Holy Convocation hosted by the Shiloh Youths organization. The colour palette inspiration for the event was Burgundy, Jamaica Gold and white, which was derived from the convocation invitation flyer. Just over a week ago, we at Elegant Events & Designs were hired to plan an "End of School" celebration for about 60 local students and their families. It's been a tough school year for the students - some as young as 5 and as old as 17 - and their families wanted to honour and celebrate their resilience with online learning. They enjoyed a beautifully decorated venue, with a deliciously catered meal, and left with a gift bag. We were thrilled to provide this experience for them, and wish them all the best in their studies!

- Never be afraid to experiment with your design accents. A well place table accessory can add a new dimension to a well balanced theme. Below is a picture of a past event where we included peacock feathers to the guest‘s tables. The feather enhanced the table dressing by introducing new textures and bold colours in a subtle but effective manner. This design accent is still one of our favourites to this day.
