R.I.P Lee "Scratch" Perry Original Upsetter👑

▶︎Lee "Scratch" Perry (20 March 1936 – 29 August 2021)
Lee "Scratch" Perry is regarded as one of the most pivotal figures in the evolution of musical composition and production within the reggae genre.👑

He consistently embraced new technology and expanded the boundaries of his music, producing many of Bob Marley's most iconic tracks, solidifying his place as an unshakeable synonym in the reggae world.

He began his career by refining his creative abilities through the use of new technology in the recording process. What distinguished him from many other reggae producers was his role as an experimentalist from the mid-1960s, constantly pioneering new ideas.

During the golden era from 1969 to 1978, Perry released 400 singles in Jamaica and approximately 50 albums in both the UK and Jamaica, securing his legacy as a key figure to be remembered by future generations.

With his original band, The Upsetters, he not only ran a record label but also contributed significantly to the creation of numerous well-known tracks within this cultural sphere, establishing himself as a central figure in the long history of reggae music.

Five years ago, I started the Upsetters® “the Product First” brand project from scratch to give form to all the inspiration I derive from this music and to preserve an intangible cultural asset for the future. (Trademarked in 2021.)

I believe that analogue records represent the pinnacle of art, and I have been expressing and promoting this concept through Upsetters®. My work has focused on advocating a movement that encourages the physical ownership of music, while spreading the music culture that I cherish.

This project aims to serve as a bridge between long-standing lovers of analogue records and the next generation of fans, acting as an indicator of cultural circulation. This unique movement embodies my lifelong commitment to Upsetters®.

As a Japanese person, I aspire to work alongside music lovers from around the world to cultivate culture and build a peaceful future. I will continue to uphold innovative leadership and entrepreneurship within this cultural sphere, transcending age, gender, and race, as I advance the Upsetters® “the Product First” initiative, with a focus on the expression of the plastic arts.

Furthermore, my One Love remains pure, and I will continue to hold deep respect and love for all creators and music enthusiasts. The Upsetters® logo (indicator) encapsulates all my thoughts and feelings. I will continue to dedicate this initiative to all aspiring Upsetters® (those who challenge the norm).👑 (Currently, I am seeking artists, designers (creators), models, and community marketers who are interested in promoting the Upsetters® initiative.
