100th Day of Noi and Jyl’s Voice Lesson

Filipinos are known to be music lovers and we’re no different. We break into songs whenever and wherever! Unfortunately, raising kids that way here in Japan would mean complaints from the neighbors (they’re lucky we don’t have our own karaoke machine). So loud singing is reserved on weekend mornings or when the neighbors are out!

Most of the songs our children know are the songs my husband and I grew up with. These are mostly 80s, 90s and early 2000s songs. Of course we keep up with the times so recent hits are also on our playlists.

The songs that Nina, their voice teacher, teaches them are ones we also love singing together as a family.

100th Day of Noi and Jyl’s Voice Lesson Celebration

The voice lesson was meant to be for Jyl initially. Her singing in the shower, or at random moments, sounded really good. However, she tends to clam up and be silent whenever she was asked to sing. So we’ve decided this class might boost her confidence. But she didn’t want to go by herself so Noi joined in. The difference between them is that while Noi lacks voice control, she compensates with her extra confidence.

We thought sending them together would not only help develop their singing skills but also strengthen their sisterly bond.

Their teacher, Nina of Nina Notes , is an amazing lady who conducts her lessons in English. Lessons are held in Kōfu, Yamanashi. Go and visit her FB page if you’re interested.

Friend outings were rare for me growing up; instead, my comfort was found in the company of my mom. Whether as a trio, with friends or alongside my boyfriend, now husband, she’s been my steadfast companion. Despite our occasional differences, she remains my trusted confidante. Mom isn’t just my backup; she’s my unwavering support, always there when I need her most. 💖

And just as my mom has been my rock, I aspire to be the same for my kids. I want them to know that, like her, I’ll always be there to help and support them through life’s ups and downs.”

Chasing Winter: A March Snowfall Adventure

Mom has visited Japan three times, but this is her first time witnessing a snowfall 🌨️. She's fortunate as this year we had snow in spring. However, the snow was brief and didn't accumulate much where we live. We took her to a higher town where there was still plenty of snow. She was happy, grateful, and satisfied.

Her six years in elementary school had its bittersweet memories. Throughout this time, she struggled everytime getting up early in the morning, tried her best to understand her Japanese teachers, but also expanded her skills in the arts and formed unexpected friendships.

The drawing in their graduation yearbook served as her final contribution as an elementary student. We're pleased that she's left a small memento for all her classmates to cherish.
