Is it okay if I allow myself an ego boost courtesy of elementary school students? At yesterday’s Festival of Nations I was approached by at least two dozen children who remembered me from other events around Tokyo (mostly friends’ birthday parties). Some even started chanting my secret magic words before my stage show started. Kidshow Rockstar. 💫

The Festival of Nations is on at Seisen International School tomorrow and The Amazing Fraser will be there! I’m due to hit the stage a little after 2pm, but will be wandering around the crowd earlier, performing closeup magic for the kiddies and kiddies-at-heart.

Hey there Tokyo friends! I’ll be performing next Monday at What the Dickens in Ebisu as part of a charity event for Mirai-no-Mori, an organization that helps children living in care homes in Japan. On my way home after the last of three magic shows this weekend.

Show #1 was through an agent I had never worked with before, and I ended up at a private party in the most opulent house I’ve ever worked in. I’ve never even heard of a house in Tokyo having an indoor pool, but I was hired for a pool party. I’m not sure who I was performing for, but the kids had their own driver and bodyguard.

Show #2 was way out in Chiba city… A dreaded 12 year old birthday party, but it ended up being a ton of fun and I scored a 30,000 yen tip.

Show #3 was in Toranomon Hills, with a new client who found me online. A couple of kids started shouting out my magic words before I even introduced them, so I asked how many people there had seen me perform before. Half a dozen kids (and almost as many adults) raised their hands. That felt nice.

So that’s a wrap on the weekend… and that’s glitter on my arm.
