The final day before the exam was filled with excitement and anticipation! While my students might have felt anxious, I was there to guide them, helping them transform their thoughts into actions.
One of my favorite lessons to teach is design thinking. It’s a skill that helps you organize your ideas, direct them toward a clear vision, and create something entirely new and unique. It’s the key to standing out and thinking differently!

Day 5 marked a special milestone in this workshop with the second big achievement: creating 3D characters! This part is always a favorite, and for good reason—it’s full of creativity and laughter. What made it even more fun was how each character seemed to naturally reflect the personality of the student who made it. You could instantly tell who created which one!

Day 4 marked the first hands-on exercise for the students. They confidently worked on the inside of the cake, but the ganache proved to be a challenge—it’s tricky yet simple once mastered, requiring practice. As we moved on to fondant effects, I began to notice sparks of creativity in some students, reaffirming my belief that there’s something truly promising awaiting at the end of this workshop.

Day 3 was when I realized we needed to pick up the pace to achieve more and avoid losing momentum. Completing the first project gave the students a much-needed boost, inspiring them to put more effort and focus into the upcoming techniques.
Some things are best prepared ahead of time, especially when they need time to set—it’s a great way to save time for the next day.

Covering a cake for the first time takes longer than usual—and that’s totally normal! When learning new motor skills and techniques, like knife painting, it’s all about building awareness of how we hold and move our tools. It’s not hard, but it does require patience.
Patience gives us the space to learn, practice, and improve. Day 3 marks the completion of our first cake—stay tuned for the first achievement in this course!

Day one was just a warm-up! We started at 9:00 and wrapped up by 1:00. I got to know the students and introduced them to the cake design world through hands-on experience. It was a chance to understand each one’s capabilities.
By the end of the day, I knew it wouldn’t be easy to deliver everything on time with only 4 hours a day and so many students, but it’s definitely promising!✨

This has to be one of my favorite experiences! It reminded me how much I enjoy teaching and how good I feel doing it.
Over 8 days—6 for teaching and 2 for exams—I tested the curriculum I wrote myself with incredible students who had zero experience in cake design. Seeing them transform and create stunning cakes by day 8 was beyond satisfying.
