Although officially established in 2012, Passos Alegres’ services have been functional in Lebanon since 2009 through Filhos de Bimba Escola de Capoeira (FBEC) in Lebanon. FBEC- Lebanon works under the supervision of and close collaboration with the mother entity in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil to provide Capoeira Regional classes. They have organized three workshops in Lebanon since 2009 with internati

onally recognized Capoeira Mestres (Masters) and Professors from Brazil to enrich the knowledge of students with the Capoeira Regional culture. Professors & Students of the school have been performing across the country showcasing Capoeira and other Afro-Brazilian dance manifestations and continue to do so today under Passos Alegres. FBEC- Lebanon also established a non-profit organization, ‘Association Filhos de Bimba – Lebanon’ that provides Capoeira as a socio-educational tool to underprivileged youth. Since November 2011, the association has been giving classes in The Tahaddi Education Center located in Jnah, which works on developing the learning and integration abilities of marginalized children. Passos Alegres now collaborates with FBEC- Lebanon in teaching Capoeira Regional to Lebanese, and soon regional, students. It also teaches Batucada and various forms of Afro-Brazilian dance to students of all levels. We are currently recruiting dancers and percussionists to perform in choreographies that incorporate Capoeira, various Afro-Brazilian dances and Batucada.
