Arguably amongst the greatest bowlers ever to play the game, Shane Warne redefined spin bowling like never before. The Australian leg spinner made 145 Test appearances, taking 708 wickets, and set the record for the most wickets taken by any bowler in Test cricket, a record he held until 2007. Not only did Warne generate tremendous spin off the pitch but was also immensely accurate, making him one of the fastest to take 700 wickets in Test cricket.

Though leopards are classified as endangered, they can be more easily observed in Sri Lanka than in any other Asian country. The Sri Lanka leopard is one of seven or eight Asian subspecies of leopards. In Sri Lanka, the leopard is the only representative of the genus Panthera, commonly known as “big cats”. Pound for pound, leopards are the strongest climbers of big cats and is capable of killing prey far larger than itself. Since 2020, the Sri Lankan leopard has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, as the population is estimated at less than 800 mature individuals, and is probably declining.

According to a study by scientists from South Korea, plants grow at a faster pace when they are played classical music. Using 14 different pieces of music, the scientists played music to a rice field and studied the results. Findings were that the music helped the crops grow and even suggested evidence that plants could “hear”. Next time we suggest practicing your instrument in your veggie garden!
