ලංකාවෙ අධිවේගී මාර්ග design කරලා තියෙන්නේ පැයට කිලෝමීටර් 120ක උපරිම වේගයකට යටත්ව. ඒ කියන්නෙ ඔය අධිවේගී මාර්ග වල සාමාන්‍ය තත්ත්වයට වඩා දුර්වල රියැදුරෙකුට, සාමාන්‍ය තත්ත්වයට වඩා දුර්වල වාහනයක වංගු, කදු, පල්ලම් වල ආරක්ශිතව යන්න පුලුවන් උපරිම වේගය පැ.කි.මී 120යි. එහෙම පාරක නීත්‍යානුකූලව යන්න පුලුවන් උපරිම වේගය පැ.කි.මී 100 යි. ඒකට කියන්නෙ posted speed කියලා. එහෙම අඩු අගයක් දාන්නෙ අධිවේගී මාර්ගය භාවිතා කරනන්නගෙ ආරක්ශාවට.

වාහනයකට තමන් ඉදිරියේ තියෙන යම්කිසි බාධකයක් දැකලා වාහනේ සම්පූරනයෙන් නවත්වාගන්න අවශ්‍ය දුරට කියන්නෙ stopping sight distance කියලා. මේ stopping sight distabce එකට කොටස් දෙකක් අඩංගුයි. පලවෙනි එක brake reaction distance. දෙවෙනි එක braking distance.

Brake reaction distance කියන්නෙ තමන් ඉදිරියේ තියෙන යම්කිසි බාධකයක් දැකලා ඇහැ විසින් මොලේට පණිවිඩයක් යවලා මොලේ කකුලට බ්‍රේක් ගහපන් කියලා පණිවිඩය යවන්න ගතවන කාලය තුල වාහනය ඉදිරියට ගමන් කරන දුර. Below average driver කෙනෙක්ට මේ සදහා තත්පර 2.6 ක් ගතවෙනවා AASHTO guidelines වලට අනුව. ඒ කියන්නෙ දල වශයෙන් පැයට කි.මී 100 ට යන වාහනයකට බ්‍රේක් ගහන්න හිතනකොටම මීටර 69.5 ක් ගිහිල්ලා. තරුණ රියැදුරෙක් නම් මීටර 42 ක් වගේ යනවා.

Braking distance කියන්නෙ brake එක පෑගුවට පස්සෙ වාහනේ සම්පූර්ණයෙන් නතර වෙනකොට මන්දනයෙන් වාහනේ ඇදිලා යන දුර. මේකත් below average vehicle එකකට පැයට කි.මී 100 කින් යද්දි සාමාන්‍යයෙන් මීටර්115 ක් වගේ දුරක්.

එතකොට පැයට කි.මී 100 ක වේගෙන් යද්දි අපිට හදිස්සියෙන් බ්‍රේක් ගහලා වාහනේ නවත්තගන්න ඕනෙ උනොත් උපරිම වශයෙන් මීටර් 185ක් විතර ඕනෙ වෙනවා. වාහනේ අලුත් නම් රියැදුරා තරුණ නම් ඉක්මනින් ප්‍රතික්‍රියා දක්වන කෙනෙක් නම් මේක මීටර් 100-120ක් විතර වෙනකල් අඩු වෙයි. මේ දුර වැස්ස දවසක් නම් තවත් වැඩි වෙනවා

ඔය ටික කියලා කතාව පටන් ගත්තේ තත්වේ බරපතල කම ගැන අවබෝධයක් දෙන්න. හයිවේ එකේ වම් ලේන් එකේ බරවාහන ඉතාම සෙමින් ගමන් කරනවා. ඔවුන්ව පසු කරන සමහරක් වාහන දකුනු මන්තීරුවෙන් එන වාහන ගැන තැකීමක් නොකර ක්ශ්ණිකව දකුනු මන්තීරුවට දානවා. එතකොට ඒ මන්තීරුවේ අධිවේගයෙන් එන වාහන වලට නවත්තගන්න තරම් දුරක් වෙලාවක් ඉතුරු වෙන්නෙ නෑ. ඒ නිසා බොහොමයක් අනතුරු වෙනවා. ඊලග එක තමයි අධිවේගයේ ගොඩක් වාහන නියමිත දුර පවත්වා ගන්නෙ නෑ. අවම වශයෙන් වාහන දෙකක් අතරේ මීටර් 100ක් වත් දුරක් පවත්වා ගන්න. එතකොට ඉදිරියේ වාහනය හදිසියේ නැවතුනත් ඔබත් ඔබේ වාහනයේ ගමන් කරන සියල්ලත් ආර්ක්ශිතයි.

තුන්වෙනි එක තමයි රාත්‍රි කාලයේ අධිවේගයේ පහ දල්වා නොමැති කම. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් රාත්‍රියට අපිට පේන්නේ අපේ වාහනයේ headlight එක වදින දුර විතරයි. ඒ නිසා රෑට අර Stopping sight distance එක 180ක් උනාට ඇත්තටම ඔයාට ඉදිරියේ මොකක් හරි බාධාවක් පේන්නෙ headlight එක වදින මීටර් පනහක හැටක දුරක් විතරයි. ඒ නිසා ඔයා පැයට කි.මී 100 ට ගියත් ඔයාට ඉස්සරහ යන වාහනේ ටේල් ලයිට් වැඩ කරන්නෙ නැත්නම්, එයා යන්නෙ ඉතාම සෙමින් නම් ඔයාට ඉතාම සුලු දුරක් සහ කාලයක් පමණයි තියෙන්නෙ මන්තීරු මාරු කරන්න සහ වේගය අඩාල කරන්න. ඒ නිසා රාත්‍රියට මේ තත්තවය ඉතාම බරපතලයි. ඒත් එක්කම රාත්‍රියට නිදිමතත් එක්ක අපේ reaction time වැඩි වෙනවා. ඒත් එක්කම brake reaction distance වැඩි වෙනවා. ඒ නිසා රාත්‍රියට අධිවේගය භාවිතා කරනවනම් ඉතාම පරීක්ශාකාරී වන්න.

ඒත් එක්කම බලධාරීන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලන්නෙ මෙන්න මේ දේවල් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන්න

1. අධිවේගයට අවම වේග සීමාවක් පනවන්න.
2. ඇතුලු වෙන සෑම වාහනයකම ටේල් ලයිට් වැඩ කරනවාදැයි සොයා බලන්න.
3. දෙයියන්ගෙ නාමෙන් රෑට විදුලි පහන් පත්තු කරන්න මොකක් හරි පිලියමක් යොදන්න.

රියැදුරන්ගෙ ඉල්ලන්නෙ

1. ඉස්සරහ වාහනේ පස්ස ඉඹින්න බලාගෙන පදින්න එපා. නියමිත ආරක්ශාකාරී දුර තියාගන්න.
2. වම් ලේන් එකේ පැයට කි.මී 40ට කොට කොටා යන්න එපා. එහෙනම් සාමාන්‍ය පාර පාවිච්චි කරන්න.
3. දකුනු ලේන් එක ඉස්සර කිරීමට විතරක් යොදාගන්න. වාහනයක් ඉස්සර කල සැනින් නියමිත දුරකින් පසු නැවතත් වම් ලේන් එකට මාරු වෙන්න.
4. ලොරි වල පසුපස් ක්‍රෑශ් බාර් සවි කරන්න. එවිට පිටිපස්සෙන් ඇවිත් හැප්පුනොත් ඒ වාහනයේ airbag on වෙන විදිහට crash bar එකේ වදින්නෙ. වාහනේ අස්සට ගිහින් රියැදුරාගේ ඔලුව ට්‍රේලර් එකේ වදින්නෙ නෑ.
5. Headlight, Taillight සහ signal light වැඩද බලන්න. ඒවා හරියට භාවිතා කරන්න. ඉස්සර කරනවනම් මංතීරු මාරු කරනවනම් signal light භාවිතා කරන්න.
6. 100kmph නම් 100kmph වලට යන්න. සල්ලි තිබ්බ පලියට, බලය තිබ්බ පලියට 150kmph වලට යන්න එපා. Physics වලට සල්ලි බලය අදාලම නෑ.
