Dear friends,

After many unforgettable moments of warm embraces and beautiful music we want to share that Las Campanas will no longer be organized for the time being. It has been a wonderful journey filled with connection, joy, and the magic of tango, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of our events.

While we pause for now, this is not necessarily a goodbye forever. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe one day, the bells of Las Campanas will ring again. Until then, we hold each of you in our hearts and cherish the community we’ve built together.

You will see a lot of people with Traditional Lithuanian kostumes or uniform around you in the city this weekend.

The first song festival in the current territory of Lithuania was in 1869 July 24 - 27 happened in Klaipeda/Memel at Prussia times. Celebrations of IX (1869) and XVII (1891) took place in Memel, Celebrations of XIII (1878) and XX (1900) in Tilze.

The foundations of the scenario of the Song Festival organized today reflect the first Song Festival, organized by Vydūnas in Tilze. We can start everything with singing evenings organized by the cultural society Birute and Lithuanian singers society Tilze, whose founder was Vydūnas.

XIX a. in the end, as part of the Lithuanian society is under threat of extinction, Vydūnas chose a method of peaceful spiritual resistance on the path of preservation of nationality, revitalization of Lithuania, as a burden was held by German influences and the creation of Lithuanian cultural-artistic associations.

Announcing the idea of a bright, cheerful, lively nation, Vydūnas sought to implement it through Lithuanian song, song and music, seeing in them the possibility of developing culture as the beginning of humanity.

All of this had direct connections to the origins of the song holidays.

We want to share with you an extraordinary experience that will help you get to know Vilnius better and might also give you a sensual experience and vivid emotions.

"The Voices of Užupis" is an immersive audio performance created by one of tangueras of Vilnius. It is dedicated to one of the most legendary centeral places - the Republic of Užupis. In this performance, Užupis gains a voice, and well-known monuments and heritage sites come alive to tell their stories, inviting the listener to interact and co-create.

We invite you on a journey where you can hear the conversations and thoughts of those who, according to human beliefs, cannot think or speak. The characters will help you hear the city and learn to communicate with it, becoming its confidant—truly becoming one of its own.

The audio performance is available for listening for free in English and Russian.
All you need is your phone, headphones, and a desire to walk around Užupis.

Midsummer Day, also known as Summer Solstice or Saint Jonas' Festival – or simply as JONINES in Lithuanian, is a Baltic festival taking place TODAY on 24th June.
Midsummer Day (Joninės) Traditions and Rituals
Midsummer Day festival (Joninės) has many traditions that have remained unchanged throughout the ages. Even when Christianity came to Lithuania and the Summer Solstice celebration merged with Saint Jonas’ festival, the rituals stayed pretty much the same. Many of them have to do with fortune telling and improving one’s health – be sure to try at least a few of them while on the shortest night of the year!

Pick wild flowers in the morning to make a flower wreath for yourself to wear during the evening celebration. Family members and friends usually present a wreath made from oak leaves as a name day present to people named Jonas or Janina.
Wash your face before walking through Summer Solstice gate.
Sing traditional songs from a special repertoire, the most common of which are “Oi Ta-Ta” and “Kupole Roze”.
Observe the sunset and let go of all negative thoughts.
Jump over the bonfire. This can be done alone or together with your partner. Either way, traditional belief is that this will bring you good health.
Try to land your personal flower wreath on a tree-trunk to see if you have a chance of marriage this year.
Float your personal flower wreath in water at midnight.
Search the local forests for a magical fern flower that is said to imbue its founder with magical powers.
Wash your body with morning dew on the morning after Midsummer festivities
