While I'm busy finishing the last bespoke orders for Christmas, here is a little teaser of stock I still have left of the small batch production that is ready to ship.

Costumes make great presents, they foster creative play and spark your children's imagination.

All handmade in Luxembourg by a trusty group of seamstresses or myself. ✨️🎄❤️🧵🪡

Hello from the studio — I’ve kept a low profile these past few weeks.
Behind the scenes, I’ve kept working, knowing that trying to compete in the whirlwind of Black Friday shopping feels a little futile for a small artisan studio like mine.

For those of you who don’t know me: I’m Jo, an artisan costume maker working where design, craft, and imagination meet.

I create bespoke (mostly children’s) costumes and small-batch ready-to-wear pieces, each made with intention and a commitment to lasting quality. I’m part of a community of independent makers all over the world dedicated to bringing thoughtful, enduring work into a market that often moves too fast.

Thank you for being here — and for supporting craftsmanship in a world that needs it. ✨🧵

So as you begin your Christmas shopping, I hope you’ll keep independent makers in mind. I still have a small selection of handcrafted costumes available — pieces ready to spark imagination and find a home in your children’s dress-up boxes.

Freshly starched like it's 1637. Water, potato starch and a hot iron.

Yes, these have buttons, but if you fancy tying your cuffs with a ribbon (and have a maid servant to help you with that), I'm happy to make them with ribbons, too. 😉

Renaissance queen, royal musketeer, more of a buerger or may be a Regency dandy? I've been making all sorts of collars, cravats and ruffs over the years. They are a wonderful accessory to uplift a costume to a whole new level.

However, what you see in my shop is not 100% historically accurate. The patterns and shapes are all based on historical extants, but there were hundreds of shapes en vogue over the centuries and I only cover a few made partially with 20th century sewing machines.

On a more practical level, collars for a kids costume or a quick change an actor needs on stage demand for a button closure although they might historically closed with a ribbon or string.

Also the lace I use is a machine lace. A very high quality fine cotton lace made by very old machines in the North of England (one of the last lace makers of this kind 😍). Historically, this lace would be bobbin lace made by hand and sometimes worked directly onto the collar base, so the pattern can go seamlessly around corners and curves.

There are a few bobbin lace makers still around and if you fancy a more historically accurate collar hand sewn with handmade bobbin lace, I would be delighted to hear from you. It is certainly and investment to buy a collar of this kind, but you would not only receive a piece of cultural patrimony, but also keep several crafts alive that are currently on the brink of extinction.
