Happening in Latvia every April since 2014

In 2011 UNESCO officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. Wise Music Society is bringing the International Jazz Day to Latvia, uniting most of the active jazz musicians, venues, schools, high schools and listeners in order to celebrate freedom, creativity and - above all - jazz.

UNESCO International #JazzDayLatvia

In 2011 UNESCO officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. Nowadays Latvian musical environment offers wide range of possibilities for developing qualitative product and bringing it to the world market. There are many high level jazz genre professionals and enthusiasts, jazz community is evolving.

The aim of the International Jazz Day Latvia is to show the rich variety and colors of jazz genre in the country as well as give the country and musicians an opportunity to become a part of the international jazz movement. The Jazz Day is brought to Latvia by Wise Music Society, uniting many active jazz musicians and composers, venues, educational institutions, and listeners in order to celebrate freedom, creativity and - above all - jazz.

During the previous 6 years 101 event has been organized to celebrate the Jazz Day in our country, and 2020 will become the seventh year of celebrating International Jazz Day in Latvia.
