about
The gallery was opened in 2006 by Liga Sane and Edmunds Tamovics. It was originally located in a residential suburb of Riga. In March 2012 the gallery moved to 18th, Rupniecibas street . In this new space, the gallery was renewed as a contemporary art gallery and named ‘Artpegazs ’, after its original birth-place. Since it’s opening as a contemporary art gallery, the gallery has been giving emerging Latvian artists the opportunity to exhibit their work, both in the gallery and abroad. Exciting, contemporary art from current Latvian artists is the primary focus of the gallery. In September 2018 we opened the Viewing Room. As well as the works of artists other than those exhibited, we also display works from the gallery collection in this space.
