Wow, a busy week working with the yachts for the Monaco Yacht Show.
A really nice week and thank you to all the lovely crew who helped me out.
This year saw much more colour being requested by the yachts, the weather was wonderful too.

Back with the delivery 'team' and getting ready for the Monaco Yacht Show 2021.
Will white flower arrangements be the most popular again this year?

Little white flowers
Each one it's own beauty
None are perfect
But every flaw adds character
No bloom stands alone
It is surrounded by many
Each one however
Could stand alone
Each could project simple love

A busy week preparing some amazing flowers for a client.
β Can you guess the flowers name? Here's a clue...
"And just as the Phoenix rose from the ashes, she too will rise. Returning from the flames, clothed in nothing but her strength, more beautiful than ever before"

As the summer months fade away, we welcome September and the autumn shades
The sun comes up, and hope arises with it.
Like a flower that through the night in darkness lay,
The sunlight wakes the colours in my spirit
And says again that darkness will not stay....

THE BIRD OF PARADISE
The Bird of Paradise flowers look like a tropical flying bird, hence the origin of its nickname.
Strelitzia Nicolai - was named after the Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Queen Charlotte. She was known to be extremely fond of plants and flowers. This tropical specimen originating from South Africa was named after her in the 18th Century.
Notes: Make sure you have the Bird of Paradise positioned in indirect sunlight, but it needs light for at least 6 hours a day. Check the soil is dry 2 inches beneath the surface before watering. You can also rotate the plant to make sure it grows evenly on all sides, and dust the leaves so the plant can photosynthesize.

FLOWERS IN MAY...
ππππππππππ
Dear Little Violet,
Don't be afraid!
Lift your blue eyes
From the rock's mossy shade!
All the birds call for you
Out of the sky;
May is here, waiting,
And here, too, am I.

ROSES - CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH OF THEM....
Hereβs a blush rose,
with raspberry scent.
Hereβs a pink,
come taste the edge.
And here, my dear,
upon the stair,
is simply the hip
of a white-blue rose
Iβve carried up
to bed.

VIOLETS AND SPRING FLOWERS
Did you know:
πΈ. Violets have been cultivated for centuries, dating back to 500 B.C. The Greeks used violets in their wines, foods and medicines, and they actually loved the flower so much that it became the symbol of Athens.
πΈ. Violets Were Napoleon Bonaparte's Signature Flower. In fact, he was called Corporal Violet by friends, after promising them he would return from his exile on Elba before violet season.
πΈ. Violets have some nutritional values. The petals are commonly coated with sugar and used on cakes. The petals and stems of violets contain high amounts of vitamin C, an antioxidant that can improve the immune system. In fact, the flower has more vitamin C than most other vegetables.

Down in a green and shady bed,
A modest violet grew,
Its stalk was bent, it hung its head,
As if to hide from view.

LILY OF THE VALLEY (Muget)
Shock news..... Lily of the valley is not a true lily; it's actually part of the asparagus family, though its foliage is reminiscent of some lilies.
It sports petite, fragrant, white flowers in the spring on long stems that rise from the leaf clumps.
But be careful... Lily of the valley is highly toxic both to people and to animals when ingested. All parts of the plant, including its orange-red fruits that often tempt children and pets, contain cardiac glycosides, which impact the heart!

Spring is struggling to arrive, but the flowers are here to help!
LILACS
Because lilacs have one of the earliest bloom times, they symbolise spring and renewal.
Lilacs also symbolise confidence, other meanings that lilacs have that can best be classified by colour.
π. White lilacs symbolise purity and innocence.
π. Violet lilacs symbolise spirituality.
π. Blue lilacs symbolise happiness and tranquility.
π. Magenta lilacs symbolise love and passion.
π. Lilac, the colour for which this flower is named, is a light purple that symbolise a first love.
Although various colours of lilacs have different meanings, the lilac has always had a strong association with love and romance throughout history.

Did you know there are over 25,000 species of orchids? But how do we care for them...?
WATERING TIPS:
π₯ Do not water orchids with ice cubes
π₯ Plump white roots indicate a healthy orchid thatβs being watered correctly. When watered, healthy roots should turn bright green
π₯ Shrivelled grey roots signal that the orchid needs more water.
π₯ Shrivelled or spongy brown and black roots are a sign of rot, so cut down on watering.
What's your favourite variety and colour?
