Weather in the UK isn’t the greatest at the moment but I heard next week might be better 🤞🏻 once it’s hot and sunny again we can enjoy cooled drinks outside. What’s your favourite flavour of Barbican? I like all the citrusy one. Unfortunately my “local” shop doesn’t have much choice so pineapples for now it is. Keeping rest in my fridge, waiting for hotter days.

‘Barbican, a non alcoholic malt drink widely popular in the Middle East, can often be found nestled in the bottom shelves of Arab grocery stores across Houston. Recently, I took the plunge and bought a pomegranate flavor crate. And my God. ⁣

At the first sip, your senses will be pulverized by a tangy electric shock. Have you ever felt the pain of a cold Redbull at 3 AM? Multiply that by a thousand. ⁣
⁣
By the time you make it through half the bottle, your tongue will be coated by a weird after taste that numbs the incoming shocks of Barbican, nectar of the designated drivers. Eventually, you’ll feel sick. Except this time, there’s no alcohol content to take your mind off the acute flavor of skittles and cereal in soda.⁣
⁣
After you finish your bottle, you’ll vow to never even look at Barbican. You won’t even want to hear the name. But time will pass. The aftertaste will slip your mind, and only memories of the initial electric plunge will haunt you until your find yourself floating back to the fridge. Just one more, you’ll tell yourself. Just once more. ⁣

Rating: normally I get the pineapple which is 8/10 but the pomegranate mentioned above is 6.5/10’⁣
