Did you know that today, 40 million people are caught in human trafficking worldwide? That’s 1 in every 200 of us.

The global crisis of human trafficking is real, it’s overwhelming, and it’s happening across the globe. And if we stand to the side, expecting someone else to solve this problem, vulnerable people will continue to be deceived, abused, and exploited right before us.
You see, taking everyday action matters. It’s a thousand little actions taken daily, all around the world, that will eradicate this horrific crime.

We don’t have to solve the problem alone, but together, we can make waves for freedom if we continue to show up day after day, doing our part in the fight for freedom.

The cycle is broken when you educate a family member about human trafficking while your friend across town reports suspicious activity.

The cycle is broken when local teachers inform students about recruitment tactics and parents equip minors with the tools to identify online grooming.

The cycle is broken when more people know what human trafficking is and how to report it.

Take your first step today by registering for a Walk For Freedom happening near you on October 15. For a few hours on a Saturday morning, you can join others in your community to raise awareness and reduce vulnerability locally—the first step to ending the crisis of human trafficking globally.

Human trafficking and modern day slavery are a common sight here in Malawi and the world at large. People have fallen victim to this tendency in the name of seeking greener pastures abroad.

The main contributing factor to human trafficking and modern day slavery can be traced to high levels of unemployment amongst the youths. Unemployment usually fuels unspoken poverty which is also a contributing factor to human trafficking and modern day slavery.

People are being taken abroad in the name of seeking employment. While there they end up being forced into the s*x industry and forced labour without pay.

It is from this notion that as an NGO we seek to engage someone who was once a victim of human trafficking residing in Mzuzu and any part of the northern region.

Let us join hands in fighting human trafficking, thereby creating a better environment for all.

It's a day of global awareness and local action in the fight against human trafficking.

On Saturday, October 15, thousands of people will hit the streets in hundreds of cities across the globe to walk in a single file line–holding posters and handing out flyers–to reach their city with information about human trafficking and how to end it.
