Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.- January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968

Not only was he a great man for humanity, he also had a great love for the art of music as well. Dr. King spoke at the Berlin Jazz Festival in 1964 and this is what he had to say, “Jazz speaks for life. The Blues tell the story of life’s difficulties, and if you think for a moment, you will realize that they take the hardest realities of life and put them into music, only to come out with some new hope or sense of triumph. This is triumph music.”

During these times, we can still look to music, our music, to tell our stories and look for hope and triumph. Thank you, Dr. King, for all that you stood and fought for. A great man, a great cause and an amazing legacy.
