At the age of 16 (1999) Sheng and a few close friends regularly sneaked into the wildest most exclusive underground parties in Amsterdam. Being exposed to such high quality house music performed by modern day legends at such an early age made him passionately pursue a career as a DJ to transmit the same emotion and magic to the audience himself and he literally dropped everything else life offers
in pursuit.
18 years and many adventures later the will to DJ and express himself has taken him to perform across 4 continents ,living the dream and building essential live routine experience to elevate himself to the highest level. He had the pleasure of performing with many industry heavy weights who all respect and support Sheng`s quest to express himself. Not fond of gimmicks and Music marketing, Soulrebelone changed his name to Sheng and insists on making it by staying true to the Music he loves and that inspired him throughout the years, a route confirmed and approved by his acknowledgement as DJ on Resident Advisor. To Sheng deejaying is emotional manipulation and it requires a lot of balance to make this an enjoyable experience for the people on the dancefloor. The contrast between sadness and happiness and the journey in between is what it’s all about. Like a true story teller he takes you on a journey both musically and spiritually which results in an unique experience only put on par with some of the most finest deejays in the World. When you check out a performance its always a surprise what you get since he`s always looking for the freshest cuts and combines this with hard to find classics. He always freestyles the set by connecting with the crowd with the only consistency between performances being the neverending groove and his meticulous selection and ear for quality. He started out deejaying with Vinyl and still has the same technique now utilizing CDJs. A purist at heart he beatmatches by ear and always mixes everything as live as can be. His production experience also allows him to use effects accordingly and add another dimension to the tracks. As a Resident DJ he has mastered the art and knows the difference between warm up, headlining and performing as a closer. These experiences make Sheng a multi purpose performer that knows his role and sticks to it. With more then a decade perfecting his DJ technique and a few hundred live performances on 4 continents ,there is no doubt that SHENG has got the flow, skills, experience and talent to pack the dance floor and keep it packed until the light comes on. His own boundary smashing cross breed productions are currently in the making and won't be released until SHENG can come to full artistic expression and can fully see and feel himself in his own sound. Having survived the craziest situations at the most exotic places across the world, its very unlikely Sheng will ever shy away from elevating himself into an in demand artist in the underground electronic music scene and beyond. He plays everything from eclectic deep house to groovy tech with percussive elements and has always had the underground edge to uplift the audience. Having been adventuring across the globe for more then a decade he has a story to tell in both music and words and truly loves what he does something that you can hear and see when he performs. Currently he is working on his debut album scheduled to launch end of this year to fully express his own sound and to complete his evolution as an artist.
