On The Fly Story Slam

It is the season, and whether you welcome the holidays or dread them, sharing stories brings joy and light. We hope you will come tell a 5-minute true-life holiday story tomorrow at the Athens Victorian Stroll edition of On The Fly. There will be a generous prize for the winning story and general merriment. We will be setting up in the old gym in the Athens Municipal building right before the tree lighting. Join us!

What a night! It was truly an honor hosting our eighth On The Fly Grand Slam last night. An evening of incredible storytelling. Michael took the Grand Slam prize with his powerful story titled “boys will be boys” and Karen won a close second place with her beautifully told story about meeting her dad. Congratulations! We are taking January off but will return for another season with our incredibly supportive community of storytellers and story lovers in February. The theme will be BAD DATES. In the meantime you can join us on December 14 to tell a holiday story at the On The Fly edition of the Victorian Stroll in Athens. Hope to see you there.

We will once again be participating in the Athens Victorian Stroll on December 14. It’s such a sweet tradition, complete with horse drawn carriages, Victorian carolers, and of course your holiday tales! Cash prize for best 5-minute true-life story!

Seventeen stories!! Normally, we cap the slam at ten stories, but there was nothing normal about this week. We are so grateful for our community of friends and storytellers who came out to spend time together despite heavy hearts. Thank you! Michael Levine won the slam with a tender and beautifully told story about finding connection in a moment of sadness. He will be telling a story at next month’s GRAND SLAM on December 5 along with all the 2024 slam winners. You can buy your ticket in advance to secure a spot. Details forthcoming.
