How long will your list go when you are told to create a buffet lunch menu? If you are anything like the rest of the classic Malaysians, you known it’s all about mixing a range of dishes, that hit on flavours and textures. Penang is known as the food capital of Malaysia, therefore you have got to add some its delicacies too. Can you wrap it all up under one roof for a company’s buffet? Yes, as we recently did it.
On a fine Friday in Prai, we arranged a delectable buffet lunch for 80pax. The management was keen to offer their employees a proper feast. As such, we were on a mission to give the best of food, right from mains to sides and of course, action stalls. Having referred to our previous catering service with Char Koay Teow, this Penang special dish was top of the management’s priority. The rest of the menu turned out to be equally exciting.
The menu is as follows ⬇
✅Mango Kerabu
✅Chicken Sambal
✅Fried Squid Rings
✅Nestum Fried Prawns
✅Japanese Tofu with Mixed Veggie
✅Chicken Satay Set
✅Cream Puff
✅Lime Cordial
✅Cut Fruits with Rojak Sauce
🔥Action Stalls:
✅Char Koay Teow
✅Ice Kacang
Our top picks settled right in – Chicken Sambal, Nestum-Fried Prawns with Curry Leaves and Fried Rice. These dishes are somewhat the foundation for a filling lunch. Nevertheless, the addition of Mango Kerabu and Japanese Tofu with Vegetables strikes marriage of flavours. The sweet, sour and spicy Thai dish has a nice bite to it, while the Japanese Tofu’s pillowy consistency makes it subtle yet tasty.
Despite all the arrangements and variety of food, nothing garners attention like action stalls. While the Ice Kacang stall were visually appealing, the real deal got to be the Char Koay Teow stall. The smoke coming off the hot wok sends off an inviting aroma to the people. Reminding them to store some stomach place for these delicious noodles.
