✨A little story ⬇️✨

As usual - I was at in the evening, prepping flowers for the week, where my supplier would have already brought the flowers and foliage up 2 floors, and I’d rush to set the space up before show time.

Today was different; I found my foliage damaged, whether through transport or through dispatch or when it was shipped. Now this is not uncommon, and often the damage is minor - but in this case, the bulk of my stock that was damaged.

I had to make a choice - give my suppliers HELL (which I did a little 🙃) and stress our for a new supply to come over, in the middle of KL rush hour and just an hour before guests arrive for the show - OR - we make do and innovate with what we have. And so, I did the latter. 💚

Life right now is really hard and there are many things that are truly out of our control. But in times of crisis (quite frankly this is microscopic in terms of crisis, but you get the anxiety nonetheless, we are forced to find solutions, think and innovate. With recent happenings, it feels like hope is lost and we cannot work with what is damaged, but I swear, with some ingenuity, tenacity and resilience, we are capable of so much more. So, keep holding on!

So best give this little arrangement a name, ey? I give you… “The Fallen Star” 💫

Quite understandably, these packaging materials protect them but I think there must be sustainable ways to pack blooms for transport and retail. It is important as florists and designers to be critical and contribute back to the industry so we can further reduce single-use plastic. As we continue to look for solutions, I do my best to separate my single-use plastic waste from general waste and am looking to partner with a neighbourhood composting partners for all my floral waste.
