Planner vs. Coordinator

A wedding planner plans your wedding from start to finish. A wedding coordinator coordinates your wedding and is not involved but is not involved in the planning of the wedding (but is usually looped in at the final stage of the wedding to organise all vendors on the day).

Now, in the industry a planner can be called a Coordinator but the point of this post is to make sure that if you decide to plan your wedding yourself, you have a professional on the day to make sure everything goes smoothly. It is an important investment for your wedding.

I get it, hiring a Wedding Day Coordinator doesn’t always seem like a necessary but really, it is an investment… This may be your first rodeo but I have a fair bit of experience in Wedding and events… When you hire me (or any wedding professional), you get exclusive access to that experience 🙂

One decision that often surfaces is not hiring a wedding day coordinator. Planning a wedding is exciting but it can also be a rollercoaster of emotions and logistics.

Another big conversation I have with not just my clients but couples is - my venue has a coordinator so do we need a different wedding coordinator? The venue coordinator will be managing the services they provide but what about all the other vendors involved outside the venue ?

I love my job and everything about my business, but there’s lots of other things that make me, me!

⭐️ I am married to my husband, David and together we have a little 9 month old, Asher

⭐️ David and I were supposed to be married in May, 2020 but then Covid hit and we subsequently rescheduled our wedding 3 times until we finally got to walk down the isle on 13th March 2021 surrounded by 20 of our nearest and dearest family and friends. Looking back , it was a wedding that truly reflected our style - small and intimate. So thank you, Covid 😜

⭐️ I love travelling. When I was studying in the UK, I travelled across Europe twice with friends and family - definitely my most memorable travel experience

⭐️ Any kind of event where people gather to celebrate, fill me with happiness - I’ve never had so much passion for a job until I started this business. Dr Sheila and Dr Selva, Nish's parents appointed me to be their son's wedding day coordinator almost a year before the wedding day.

As we approached the big day, I got to know them and their family. It was a profound sense of warmth as it seemed like I was included and integrated to their family, almost as if we've known each other forever.

When the day finally arrived, it truly did feel like I was coordinating a wedding for a close family member / friend.

I'm so grateful have gotten to know Dr Sheila, Dr Selva and their family and I'm glad I could contribute in making Nish and Hannah's wedding day a memorable one not only for the couple but their families too.

I know a wedding planner is an investment and not every budget allows for one and not every wedding needs one.

When you don't need a wedding planner :

🔹You get lots of help from family and friends and don't mind having them run around doing things for your big day instead of being in the moment and celebrating with you.

🔹It's not important to you you to bounce off ideas with an expert. You don't require any special attention.

🔹Wedding details are just minor to you.

Although, if you want your planning to be a collaborative experience where we take over the heavy lifting, we should talk.

We take pride in creating a wedding that's totally unique to you and most importantly take the stress away from planning a wedding.

On the day we put a lot of effort and attention to ensure your big day runs as you envisioned it to be.

Having a Masters Degree in Project Management and having years of experience in projects, I have some OCD for every detail and planning that's needed to make it a day to remember for you and your guests - while sticking to your budget.

Part of what I do is being your event coordinator.

What I do?

I basically come in after you've secured your venue and all your vendors.

About a month before your wedding, I take care of the last minute details, come up with your itinerary, and execute the plan on the day itself.

On your big day, I'm the point of contact for all your vendors and guests. I'll be managing your timeline to ensure everything runs smoothly, your decor setup is done, other vendors are ready, and those participating or helping out during your wedding know what to do, etc.

Leading up to your wedding, I'll help finalise your itinerary, floor plan and rehearsals.

So this way, days leading to your wedding, you, your partner and your families can focus on just enjoying the moment instead of worrying bout wedding details.

I met Nish's parents, Selva & Sheila a year ago and we hit it off straight away.

The groom and his bride are based in the US, so the entire wedding here in KL was organized by Nish's parents. They had most of their vendors booked but needed someone to "run the show". That is where I stepped in.

As a wedding coordinator, I am the point of contact for vendors. I manage the timeline of the day making sure the day runs smoothly, ensure the decor setup is complete per the client's expectations and finalise the timeline. In addition, my job is also to resolve any issues that may arise on the day, so my clients and their families can be in the moment and enjoy the special day.

This wedding was so special, because I not only got to know (and became close to) my client but also their wonderful families. There was so much warmth and love in the room. It just goes to shows that we may come from different parts of the world, but love conquers all 🤍
