Did you know who crafted the very first coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II?
The first coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was crafted by ๐Ÿ‘‰ Mary Gillick, a British sculptor and engraver.

๐Ÿง Answer Reveal ๐Ÿ’ก

The answer is... Yuan Shikai!

Yuan Shikai was a military leader who briefly declared himself Emperor of China in an attempt to reinstate the monarchy after the country was declared a Republic.

His reign as Emperor lasted just over three months. He declared himself emperor on December 12, 1915, but due to widespread opposition and political unrest, he was forced to abdicate on March 22, 1916.

Though his attempt to restore the monarchy was short-lived, Yuan Shikai continued as president until his death later that year.

His brief reign is a fascinating chapter in Chinese historyโ€”and his face appeared on the 1914 Chinese banknote.

Thanks for playing alongโ€”stay tuned for more historical challenges!

The Hungarian 100 quintillion pengล‘ note! ๐Ÿคฏ Yes, you read that rightโ€”100,000,000,000,000,000,000 pengล‘!

In 1946, Hungary issued the highest denomination banknote ever: the 100 quintillion pengล‘, or "million billion pengล‘," during one of the worst cases of hyperinflation in history. By July 1946, prices had skyrocketed so drastically that a single pengล‘โ€™s purchasing power had dropped by a factor of 3 x 10^25 in just a year. Post-World War II devastation, including asset loss, reparations, and occupation costs, left Hungary economically crippled. To manage overwhelming debt, the government allowed hyperinflation to continue, ultimately remonetizing with the new forint currency, valued at one forint to 400 octillion pengล‘.

The U.S. $1 bill has featured George Washington's portrait since 1869, and its modern design, introduced in 1963, has remained largely unchanged, making it one of the most enduring banknote designs in history.

1869: The $1 bill first featured George Washingtonโ€™s portrait in the "Rainbow Note" series, along with other distinctive design elements, including colored inks and symbols.

1929: The U.S. standardized the size of all paper currency, including the $1 bill, to its current dimensions. George Washington remained on the $1 bill with minor design changes.

1963: The modern $1 bill as we know it today was introduced, featuring George Washingtonโ€™s portrait, the Great Seal on the reverse, and the other elements still seen today.
