In 2009, as the then President of Sarawak Eurasian Association (SEA) Datin Dona Drury Wee collated published the renowned "Legacy Cookbook", which went on to win the 2011 Gourmand Awards for Best Cookbook on Local Cuisine in the world, received award in Paris, France.
In 2021, Kuching became the first city in Malaysia to be designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, one of the seven categories within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), highlighting its rich culinary heritage and diverse food culture. This recognition places Kuching on the global map and many people actively seek out UNESCO Creative Cities as a part of their travel itinerary, because the recognition signifies that these cities have achieved a certain level of excellence and cultural significance.
