We had the opportunity to host a group floral workshop for Mia, a mom to be. She would like to celebrate the arrival of her baby girl by having some meaningful activities with her friends. We were thrilled that the event turned out to be great, everyone had fun and had a good bonding session. A day spent learning a new skill is mindful and mind full living 🙂

Some flat lay photography tips we find useful for beginners below:

1. Find a flat surface
As long as the surface you’re shooting on is flat, you’re on the right track 👌

2. Arrange your objects
Try to arrange your objects in the manner that they overflow out of the frame. This creates curiosity and feel as though you are seeing a snippet of a larger picture, engaging the viewer’s imagination to think beyond the frame.

3. Harness the power of light
Position your flat lay scene close to an open window or somewhere that receives a lot of natural light. Then determine what you want the focal point of the shot to be.

4. Layering is great way to add depth and and movement to your frame. Adding items such as linen or crinkled paper beneath the main object can give added intrigue as you create multiple layers.

5. Get high
The key to a great flat lay is to capture the photo from an angle that is parallel to your flat surface. Hence you must get directly above your subject.

Dear all peonies lover,

Do note that the peony season has just ended. Generally these beauties remain in season from April to June. Fret not, do keep an eye on our updates as there might be limited batches coming in during off season as well 😉

ICYDK, the pink peonies are more fragrant than any other variety. And it’s best to buy peonies still in buds instead of open blossoms to increase their longevity. Warmer temperatures help them open more quickly, while they will remain closed longer in cooler areas.
