Penang2030 - The State's vision ; The Rakyat's concerns
Accelerating
As we enter 2022, let us remain cautious and optimistic of the economic recovery. Our main focus is to ensure the twin engines of growth of Penang namely and to continue to create and retain .
“Accelerating Penang2030”, covering the second phase of Penang2030, from 2022 to 2025. Central to this period of policy implementation are three sets of initiatives.
(1) Community-building Initiatives;
(2) Industry Engagement Initiatives, and;
(3) Placemaking Initiatives
✦ Community-building Initiatives
Community-building Initiatives will impact the People of Penang as a whole, empowering everyone especially the under-privileged, and rallying young and old to participate alongside the government initiatives in bringing services and assistance to those most in need of them.
The key objective is to galvanize all the 40 constituencies, building on our belief in the strength of diversity, using digital means and our love for the environment. Volunteerism and dialogue between the people and government will be actively promoted and coordinated.
A one-stop service-based platform run by 28 organizations called the Penang Care Society have been set up to support families and individuals that were affected by the pandemic.
✦ Industry Engagement Initiatives
As we celebrate the 50th year of industrialization for Penang in 2022, we set forth to expand the E&E manufacturing footprint and be Industry 4.0 ready as preparing for the next 50 years.
We encourage more foreign direct investment and domestic investments, and talent development. We wish to train more local talents by pooling resources to build capability in new deep technology areas such as AI, robotics, analytics, and life sciences.
✦ The Placemaking Initiatives
The Placemaking Initiatives aim to create innovative hubs for synergic development for the next 50 years.
We have the Creative Digital District in George Town (CD²@GT); a creative and innovative digital hub located right in the middle of the George Town Heritage Site, that nurtures Penang’s digital economy, creative economy, and entrepreneurial endeavors.
Next, we have The Middle Bank Marine Sanctuary aims at the conservation of marine life, environmental preservation, and part of our climate action plan.
Penang2030 vision and its strategic themes, with specific targets to facilitate economic growth, to ensure resilience for Penang, and improve the overall prospects of economic growth.
