The new year brings a mix of emotions, and what I thought would be an exciting time has instead given me an indescribable heartache.

I'm Christine. I'm one of the founder of CORALS.

That day was one that my team and I had spent so much time preparing for. We carefully designed every detail, invested countless hours and effort, all to give our clients a sincere and professional experience, hoping to bring them a satisfying event. However, on the very same day we posted the photos and videos of our event, I discovered that another event was showcasing a design almost identical to ours. Though the venues were different, the similarity in the visuals hit me hard.

At that moment, my heart really hurt.
Can you imagine? When I saw my design being used for another event, that indescribable sense of helplessness, anger, and frustration almost took my breath away. All the effort and care we put in became someone else’s spotlight, and I could only silently endure it in front of my screen.

As a mother, this pain was even deeper.
That day, my child was right there beside me, and he saw everything on the livestream. He saw my design being used for someone else’s event without my name attached to it. He saw my panic and disappointment in that moment, and even asked me, “Mom, why are they using your design?”

His look broke my heart. At such a young age, he couldn’t fully understand what was happening, but he could still sense my helplessness and frustration. I tried to calm myself because I didn’t want him to think that when faced with unfairness, we should just remain silent, compromise, or even retreat. I didn’t want him to believe that just because we are a small company, we have to be afraid to speak up and fight for what is ours.

I want to tell my child, and remind myself: It’s mine, and I should fight for it.
Not for the sake of winning or losing, but to show my child that no matter what challenges we face, the truth is worth defending, and our efforts deserve respect. Even if the road ahead is filled with obstacles, I will try because I want him to be brave one day, to stand up for what’s right and not fear any barriers.

I don’t know if other designers or creators have gone through the same helplessness and heartache, but I hope my words can make more people realize the importance of respecting originality and copyright. Especially in Malaysia, we need more respect for creativity and recognition of hard work.

Thank you to everyone who listens and supports me. Every word of encouragement gives me the strength to keep moving forward.

我是Christine, CORALS 的创办人之一。

那一天是我和团队特别用心筹备的活动，我们精心设计了每一个细节，我们投入了无数的时间和精力，精心设计了每一个细节，为的是让客户感受到我们的诚意和专业，期待给客人带来令人满意的体验。然而，就在我们发布活动照片和视频的同一天，我发现另一场活动也在展示与我们设计几乎完全相同的创意。虽然地点不同，但那种视觉上的雷同，让我瞬间跌入谷底。

那一刻，我的心真的很痛。
你能想象吗？当看到自己的创意被别人用在另一场活动上时，那种说不出的无助、愤怒和委屈让我几乎窒息。所有的努力和用心，竟然成了别人的亮点，而我只能在屏幕前默默承受。

作为一名母亲，这种痛苦更加深刻。那一天，我的孩子就在我身边，他也看到了直播里的一切。他看到妈妈的设计被用在别人的活动上，却没有妈妈的名字。他看到我那一瞬间的慌乱和失落，甚至问我：“妈妈，为什么他们用你DESIGN的？”

孩子的眼神让我心碎。他小小的年纪，无法完全理解这一切，但却敏锐地感知到我的无助和委屈。我努力平复自己的情绪，因为我不想让他觉得，面对不公平时，我们只能沉默、妥协，甚至退缩。我更不想让他误以为，只因为我们是小公司，就必须害怕发声，害怕争取属于我们的东西。

我想告诉我的孩子，也想告诉我自己：是我的，我就该争取。
不是为了争输赢，而是为了让孩子知道，无论遇到什么困难，真理值得捍卫，努力值得尊重。即使这条路充满挑战，我也会去尝试，因为我希望有一天，当他面对类似的处境时，能勇敢地站出来，不惧任何阻碍。

我不知道是否有其他设计师、创作者也经历过这样的无奈和心痛，但我希望我的发声可以让更多人意识到原创的价值和版权的重要性。特别是在马来西亚，我们需要更多对创意的尊重，对劳动的认可。

谢谢每一个愿意倾听和支持我的人。你的每一句鼓励，都是我继续前行的力量。

Hello there! Welcome to Corals Cafe’s Fanpage. We thank you for taking your time to read our story.

Let us share with you why CORALS. Corals are like the rainforest of the sea. Corals aren’t just colourful rocks, there are living things living inside them. Corals are not mobile. Instead, they anchor at one place and they live their whole life there.

Corals form into coral reefs over time and they are very important in the sea. Why? Because there are literally millions of species living in, subsist and around the corals.

The corals built up over millions of years and can survive in warm shallow water as well as cold deeper water. They built themselves to withstand typhoons, hurricanes, and other tropical storms.

But today, corals are in trouble. Corals are sensitive to water temperature, so global warming and climate changes is bad. Ocean acidification, eco-tourism, and commercial over fishing, are all beginning to kill of these tiny animals.

But all hope is not lost. According to study, the parrot fish might be the corals savior. Where parrot fish lives, corals thrive. So with a little bit of effort, we can help these tiny animals to continue for another 400 million years or more.

SO ~

We are like CORALS. We stay at one spot and do not move. Our beloved customers/patrons are like the million types of fishes around us. We meet different customers everyday and never stop learning to subsist together and share fun together.

We are strong like CORALS. We are not afraid of failure and problems. We always learn from our mistakes and we never give up.

Our team is like a group of ‘parrot fish’. Whenever we are around, our cafe thrive. We always will work harder to provide the best customer service we could or as long as we can.
