When descending a slope:
Always try to keep your wheels straight and pointed directly downhill. This minimizes the chance of sliding sideways or tipping over due to lateral forces.
If you can't descend straight (e.g., due to terrain or obstacles), then:
- Steer in the direction of the tilt or topple to help regain balance.
- Apply gentle braking to control your speed (relying solely on engine braking would be too fast in this case).
- Avoid locking the brakes. Locked wheels eliminate steering control and increase the risk of skidding.
- Do not brake suddenly, especially in off-camber situations. Abrupt braking can cause weight to shift forward or to the side, increasing the chance of losing traction or rolling over.
