Last weekend at Rekta Park, something interesting happened.

Two guests who barely knew each other were seated at different tables during a birthday event.

At first, it was the usual polite nods and “good evening.” Nothing serious.

Ten minutes later, they had pulled two more people into the conversation.

By the end of the night, they were exchanging phone numbers and promising to attend each other’s next event.

And it got us thinking…

Rekta Park was founded in 2015. It was started to breach the gap that was existent in jos, for recreational parks and outdoor events venue.

The name Rekta was coined from a district in Garkawa mikang local government of Plateau State called "Rohta" but pronounced 'Rekta'.

The location where Rekta Park and Garden stands today was known as the "ilorin compound" initially named by the Museum's and Monuments Institute to preserve the cultural identity of the ilorin people.

it was allocated to be used as a Park and Garden, when the monument had been in ruins for over 20years,  Alot of work had to go into grading the place for landscaping, planting and construction.

It was quite difficult because of how expansive the place is, with huge rock formations and gullies.
But gradually, after the landscaping and planting of grass, flowers and trees. The place started taking shape.

It officially started running in October 2015 with its first wedding reception that hosted over 800 people. Subsequently and to date it has played host to over three hundred wedding receptions and almost a thousand  other events.

Rekta Park has an open garden that is green, lush and expansive. It has capacity to host over 1000 persons at a time. This makes it an ideal place for concerts, festivals, trade fairs etc

It also has an indoor lounge and restaurant, which serves great food and drinks and can host small and intimate events for 100-150 persons.

There is a playground for children, equipped with swings, slides and merry go rounds.

The garden also has a five aside pitch for football lovers.

Rekta Park and Garden aims to be the first choice outdoor event and recreational centre in jos.
