Confession time: most “fancy” events are 70% sitting… 20% waiting… and 10% actually having fun. 😄
You know the type.
You arrive looking all put together.
You find your seat.
You sit.
And sit…
…and sit some more.
Someone taps you: “you shout, hug, greet and share small banter" and the person moves back to their seat.
Thirty minutes later, you’re still on your seat making eye contact with the same centerpiece and probably chewing on some small chops.
Now compare that to what happened at a small outdoor event we hosted recently.
Friends and Family gathered for what they called a “low-budget birthday.”
(Their words, not ours 😄)
Within minutes: One person had shifted their seats to accommodate other friends in a walk down memory lane.
Two others were arguing over who makes the best jollof rice.
Someone started playing their spotify list and suddenly it was a dance floor… on grass.
At some point, the celebrant said,
“Wait… everyone seems to be enjoying themselves without a structured program?!
Exactly.
Outdoor events flip the script on what an event should feel like.
🎉 Less structure, more fun
No one is trapped in one spot. Guests move, mingle, and create their own fun.
You spend less… but enjoy more
Instead of pouring money into décor and logistics, you invest in actual experiences.
And somehow, nobody misses the extra spending.

No stiffness. No forced conversations.
Just people being themselves, laughing, gist-ing, connecting.
There’s something about being outdoors that makes people drop their guard.
Even the “I don’t like social gatherings” crowd suddenly becomes the life of the party.
Because truth be told…
Most people don’t remember the chair covers or the stage design.
They remember how they felt.
And outdoor events?
They just feel… better.
So the next time you’re planning a birthday, hangout, or small celebration
Ask yourself:
