HOW A BAKER CAN COLLECT MORE MONEY FROM A CUSTOMER.
Here's the normal pattern cake bakers use when a customer orders a cake.
- They bake and decorate the cake.
- They take pictures of the cake in one pretty corner of their cake studio, before delivering it to the customer.
- Customer comes and picks up the cake, or they deliver to the customer.
- Customer is impressed and MAYBE sends a text message to tell the baker how delicious 😋 the cake was.
- Baker is excited, screenshots the conversation and puts it on her social media accounts or shares it in the PBF group.
- Remember, baker has already collected her N10k or whatever amount it was for the cake.
- FINISH!
What if I showed you an extra strategy you can use to get more money from your customer even after they have paid for their cake order?
- Bake and decorate the cake.
- Take pictures of the cake in that pretty corner of your cake studio.
- When customer comes to pickup the cake or when you deliver the cake, humbly ask customer to save your number with Mary Cake Ikeja. Or you can use your cake business name instead. (If your cake business name is ADIAHAABASI EKPO-OTU CAKES AND MORE, please abort mission - the name is too long).
- If customer is impressed and sends a feedback, ask customer which of the cake flavors they enjoyed most (assuming that the cake was different layers of flavor).
- If customer responds - the chocolate and red velvet flavor, tell the customer that you can get her cake loaves or slices in that exact flavor for N1k (or less, depending on how you sell your cake loaves).
- Customer may or may not buy. But never stop to make the offer.
- Remind customer that they can chat you up or call you anytime they need cakes.
- When next the customer comes back to order a cake from you, please ask the customer for referrals to her friends. You can even make her an offer - a 8 inches cake, a bottle of wine plus 50 pieces of cookies for just N15k (or whatever amount that is profitable for you). You can say "please Aunty, help refer me to 2 of your friends that will need cakes".
You may be able to get more customers from your first customer.
Rinse and repeat the same strategy for each new customer you get.
I know someone reading this might say "Abeg this is too stressful". But the truth is if you keep on doing what every other person is doing, you will get the results every other person is getting. However, if you go the extra miles to do something different, the results will be spectacular.
Who is going to try this strategy?
