The Igbos tenacity in doing business should be studied, I am telling you!

There's this shop I usually go to to buy accessories for bag making

I was in the market one day ,and decided to head over there to complete my purchase. I was almost at the shop, when I saw the apprentice that usually attends to me and I was like: You dey comot? Na your shop I dey go so?

He replied politely and said, Ha, I no dey there again! My Oga don settle me!

In mind, I was thinking, okay, that's good. So I said to him, Where your shop? And he said: I still dey look for, I never see the one I like around!

He quickly added, Wetin you wan buy, make I help you get am nah! My goods dey around

I told him all I needed. He hurriedly goes about getting some form one shop, the other from another shop as he had scattered his goods about in different shops around him.

He gets all I needed but for one. I paid him and left!

I remembered some years ago, when he first started, he wasn't this swift and fast. His training years have groomed and improved him!

I decided to buy the last item from his Ogas shop! I see a new apprentice there. I smiled to myself!

This new young boy has also started his journey to becoming a boss of his own someday.

That he ( the older apprentice) hadn't gotten his own shop didn't bar him from showing up at his business that day and with his zeal, shop or no shop, he will definitely make sales that day!

Kudos to all pushing their business daily.

It took me a while to realize that Netflix was about to make an increase in its subscription rates!

I guess they had made an increase in other regions they cover last year but did Nigeria's this year!

You know what they did?

For new subscriptions, it took effect from April this year.

But for old and existing subscribers it was different.

Like for me, I received a mail in April informing me of the increment, and stating that it would take effect next month which would be in May when my next subscription would be due!

I kind of liked it! ( Not the increment though but in the approach)

Why you may ask?

Because they communicated and showed empathy!

I love brands and businesses that show some form of empathy

And as a business owner, I am learning a thing or two.

When there is going to be any form change to your brand or business offerings, be it price or products/ service itself, it's effective to communicate properly with your existing customers and show some empathy

What this does is that it builds a sense of trust and loyalty for your business and the customer feels relevant!

This little act could cause a ripple of positive effects to your business

Before heading out to an event, corporate or social, make sure you are appropriately dressed for the occasion.

A dress code is usually written on the invite you have been given. Do well to check so you don't experience being odd amongst the rest!

More importantly, have a slight snack or more before heading out. This will keep you head and mind settled.

It will also remove the anxiety as to when item 7 will be served.
..and just in case they miss you as the menu is served, you are not hungry and angry 😁😁

We were thinking of what to gift children as souvenirs for a Christmas end of the year party so we came up with this!

A kind of circular purse. You can call it a pencil holder!

Very handy!

Children can put in their pencils, biros, erasers, rulers and a few other things

If we increase the length of the purse a little more, it could comfortable take that small water flasks, adult water bottles, coffee cups......

So! adult can use it too

After the selection/ sourcing of materials stage, is the cutting stage in the process of bag making!

You need to get this right with the right measurements as well. Each bag design has it's specific measurements and cutting techniques.

Size of bag design also affects the measurements you would work with. So as it seems, it involves some form of calculation!

Me, that I don't like maths🤦‍♀️.

When I was growing up, my Dad once said to me, you know you don't like maths? I said: Yes Daddy! He continued: So, don't bother going to the Sciences. I took his advice

I went to my Arts class jeje!

Little did I know that somewhere along this journey of life, I will still meet this🤦‍♀️

But what can we do, we are wedging forward. Forward ever, backwards never!

Afamefuna! I have finally been able to watch the movie

With all the buzz , opinions, criticism, reviews both positive and negative, Ha! I had to go watch it oh. I found the time to do so on Netflix!

Did you know that this same movie had been in the cinema months ago and it didn't get the recent buzz and hype around it?

Until it appeared on Netflix before it started getting this high traction! Kudos to the marketing team for making this move which gained for them

This goes to say that as a business owner, entrepreneur or marketer of some sort, if one strategy doesn't work for you, keep trying other strategies till you hit your mark

Now I see the movie and it's actors as nominees in the upcoming AMVC Awards. Hopefully they win some awards!! Fingers crossed!!

At a party I attended once, I noticed the the host of the party were very relaxed!

They all sat all through the event, eating, drinking and dancing all through with their individual guests. No worries at all!

Everything was taken care of. They didn't have to monitor nothing!

This scenario can only happen when you have someone doing the monitoring for you while you enjoy your event!

The process of bag making begins not from the sewing stage but indeed what I call the sourcing/ selection of materials stage.

You see, this stage is a very crucial stage to the successful outcome of your bag.

The types of materials you'll want to source for largely depends on the type of bags you want to make

When I get to the market to source for materials needed for a particular order, I like to take my time.

Sometimes I get to the market and BOOM! I see what I need!

Other times, I could be there for hours sourcing for materials.

I just need to get that vibe , before I make that selection, I hope you understand what I mean!!

If it's not vibing😁😁, I don't pick it! In the end, our clients are grateful to us for making the right choices

There's this popular parable in China about a Bamboo tree

When the seed of this Chinese Bamboo tree is planted, it shows no sign of growth for five solid years

It is watered daily and fertilized in the ground where it has been planted every day.

Despite these daily activities, It doesn’t break through the ground for five years.

After five years, once it breaks through the ground, it will grow 90 feet tall in five weeks!

So all the daily labour shows only after 5 years.

Perhaps, because the person didn't see any sign of growth soon enough to stops nurturing, the tree dies in the ground and all efforts is lost!

When you feel nothing seems to be working, or you compare your growth and progress with others.Be patient!

Know that each person's growth rate is different just as the bamboo tree is different from other trees

Know that it takes hard work, persistent, and faith. Keep at it! Soon enough your dreams will come true

Planning It could be a difficult and exhausting task if you plan your events all alone

Mind you, getting it right is much more than just sorting the ambience/ decorations aspect alone!

I was having a conversation with someone who explicitly said he needed an event planner.

During our conversations, I noticed he went on and on about the decorations only. At a point, I had come in to ask about the others aspects like catering, ushers, photography and video coverage, souvenirs, hall lighting, cake ideas, event themes..... and more

I then realized he had in his mind equated the role of an event planner to a decorator 😁😁

An event planner does not look out for only decor but does a whole lot to ensure smooth running of the event as a whole

Two kids were playing right before me. They were on a pavement, trying to play the jump game!

The younger one ( a boy) obviously more vocal told the other to jump. Jump! , He shouted! The other did!

It was the turn of this little boy to jump, this boy quietly sat on the pavement, put his two legs down and got down🤣🤣🤣 whilst smiling sheepishly!

I laughed ehen! See this boy shouting Jump! Yet he himself couldn't

Is this not how people jeer others on to do what they themselves can't possibly do!

You must be mindful of taking hook line and sinker other people's opinions, most of what they say, they can't do. Ensure you do You always
