Today, December 11th, will forever carry a weight my heart can never forget.
On this very day in 1987, we lost our beloved father, Felix Olugbodin Awoyemi the pillar of our home, the man whose presence was strength and whose absence became a wound time has never fully healed. We were left with nothing but memories… and our courageous mother, who stood alone to raise seven children with grace, sacrifice, and an unshakable spirit. She became both father and mother, carrying a burden no one should bear yet she carried it with love.
And just when we thought the date had taken enough from us, December 11th, 2020, stole our precious sister, Folasade Awoyemi. Two deep pains, the same date, years apart… sometimes it feels like December 11th was carved into our story with tears.
But in all things, we still lift our eyes to God.
Despite the heartbreak, He kept the rest of us.
He preserved us. He strengthened us.
And He continues to write a story of grace over our family.
We miss you, Bàbámi Felix Olugbodin Awoyemi,
We miss you, Sister Folasade,
And we thank God for the gift of life, love, and survival.
