TYPES OF RECORD DEALS THAT ARTISTES SIGN

Have you ever wondered why Kizz Daniel changed his name from Kiss Daniel after leaving G World wide ? Have you ever wondered why Cynthia Morgan , Rhythmz lost their names after leaving a record label ? It all boils down to the kind of record deal you sign .

You will always hear that this label is bad, this label is good. Our Artistes before going in for those deals they know it. Sometimes we the Fans Cry more than the Artistes. Once an Artiste Quits the label we don't even Care to know the Kind of Contract they Sign but we just go ahead and criticize the label . Our Artistes knew it but they are always hungry and Desperate.

50/50 Record Deal. This kind of Deal is more of a Joint Venture.It can be signed between an Artiste and a Record label or between two Record labels. What You should know about this kind of Contract is that it is signed only with Artistes who are making Waves. Reason You will see Charlotte Depanda sign in with Empire or Kizz Daniel sign in with Empire . Like we said hit
Can be signed between two record labels too . You can't be an Upcoming Artiste and Sign a 50/50 deal nope. With this type of Contract, the Profits are shared Equally

360 Record Deals. With this kind of deal, the record label takes a share in all the income the Artiste makes from Streams.
They build up and Artiste through their recordings till the Artiste reach a point where the sources of revenue like Performing and Merchandise increase as a result of this. Hence the record labels feels entitled to everything from streams to performance and Everything.
The thing is 360 deals are not good for everyone. Record labels created this to make more money from Artistes. Many Artistes have an issue with it. This is the kind of deals many of our Artistes sign and regret later. Kizz Daniel had this deal with G world Wide reasons he lost even his name when he left .

Single Record Deal. In this kind of Deal a label is involve in the production and release of a single song. The idea behind is that Labels don't want to fully invest on an Artiste who is still unproved. By releasing a Single song, The label can have an idea about how successful the Artiste can be before fully investing in the Artiste. This is what Daicko signed with motherland Empire. They surly couldn't spend more to invest on him given the reaction gotten from his first single. Remember Record labels are out to make money.

Production Deal : A production deal is not a Record deal because it doesn't include the distribution of Your Recordings instead it is offered by a Production company solely for the Production and Recording of your songs. A production deal is a good step in getting a Record deal. If Your Recordings turn out to be very good, You can easily get a Record Deal

Distribution Deal : This is actually one of the best record deals , you own the rights to projects while a particular company markets it for you and get a particular percentage. Imagine a talented artiste like Salatiel having a distribution deal with Empire , he will become the biggest artiste in CAMEROON in no time .
Asake and Kizz Daniel all have distribution deals with EMPIRE .

It is important to know these things before getting into any record deal .

OPEN LETTER TO PHYNO FINO

For the past 10 years, you have taken the stage as the king of Igbo Rapper. Not only did you took over the kingship, you have also proven beyond any reasonable Doubts that Phyno is of the best indigenous rappers in the world. I give it to you boss!

A decade ago, Igbo musicians really dominated the music industry and were doing so well. The likes of Psqare, Bracket, tekno, flavour etc but today, it seems you guys have left the industry for our Yoruba brothers.

I am not trying to bring tribalism here but I must confess that when it comes to music, the Yoruba people are really helping their upcoming ones. That's why they're making waves today.

I decided to write this letter over these two guys popularly known as Blessnnachi and Igboboiyspace . These guys needs no introduction.

These two guys have proven to continue on the legacy and pace you've already set up in terms of Igbo rap. Their songs are even better than most of the known artist today.

Oga Phyno, I know you may be having this paranoia that if you lift these guys, they will take over from you! That is not right.

Recall you started rap song with Olamide. While you conquered south East, Olamide took over the south west but let me shock you, Olamide has produced many more Yoruba rappers while he is still the king.

Portable aka Zaazuh that is making waves today was just as a result of a feature Olamide gave his career, today the rest is history.

Should I talk about WizKid, Davido, Naira Marley, Zlatan, Teni and host of others. Even our brother Don Jazzy who is from UMUAHIA is yet to sign much upcoming artists from South East.

Mr. Phyno, I want to beg you in the name of God to please feature this guy by name BlessNnachi, he has tried enough and now needs a booster!

The way I'm seeing that guy, once he is brought to limelight, he will take other upcoming guys along. You can check out his page and see it there. That we are hearing about igboboiyspace was as a result of BlessNnachi.

I don't know if this letter will ever get to you but if indeed you did see it, oga, please help these upcoming artists. We are not talking about signing them, just give them a feature and introduce them to other artists using your influence.

How can we have someone like you and they will be going else to look for help. Mr. Phyno, do you know that if you produce more artists in your name, it will be part of your legacy, not only that, attentions will be brought back to south East because of that.
