HOW TO MAKE A CAKE EXTRA SWEET AND MOIST WITHOUT ALTERING THE RECIPE
Baking is similar to chemistry in that all the ingredients come together to produce the final product.
Sugar adds sweetness to the cake as well as a nicely caramelized crust.
The flour gives the cake structure, and the oil/butter adds moisture.
However, just because we're talking chemistry, you can't just add more sugar and oil/butter to make a sweeter and moister cake.
If you throw things out of balance by changing the recipe, you won’t get the desired results.
Now, you are probably asking: what do one do?
... All hope isn’t lost.
Here's one way to make your cake moister and sweeter without altering the recipe.
To achieve your desired result, do this:
Make a sugar syrup to soak the cake in.
A sugar syrup, also known as simple syrup, is made by boiling equal parts sugar and water until the sugar dissolves.
It can be flavored with anything, including vanilla, almond, or rum extracts, citrus extracts or zest, or coffee.
After the syrup has cooled, split the cake in half and brush it with the syrup.
Alternatively, fill a squeeze bottle with the glaze and drizzle it over the cake.
Simply wait until the syrup is completely absorbed before icing the cake.
Otherwise, the icing will come off.
