We are elated by the professional approach in selecting the beneficiaries and the success of today's launch.

The loan scheme is one sure way of stimulating our state's economy and improving the livelihood of our people.

Over N3.6billion was distributed to about 3,066 beneficiary MSMEs and 100 companies that included non-indigenes.

BODY OF LATE CINEMATOGRAPHER WHO DIED ALONG JUNIOR POPE EXHUMED AND BURIED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT

The Rivers State Government has stepped in to offer financial aid for the exhumation, transportation, and burial expenses of the late Precious Chimaobi Ofurum, a talented Nollywood cinematographer and video editor from Rivers State. Ofurum tragically lost his life in a boat mishap in Anambra State which involved the popular nollywood actor Pope Obumneme Odonwodo also known as Junior Pope.

On Friday, April 26th, 2024, Her Excellency Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, the Rivers State Deputy Governor, accompanied by Dr. Osunwa Kenneth, Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Rivers State, paid a condolence visit to Ofurum's family in Ubima, Rivers State. During the visit, Ofurum's parents consented to the exhumation of their son's body.

The government conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Precious Chimaobi Ofurum and assured them of support during this challenging period. May his soul rest in peace.

Once upon a time in so many parts of the SOUTH and Major part of the South Eastern part.And arguably some part of the middle belt called the KWAV in Tiv land. Everyone was a landlord; there were no homeless people in any part of these neighborhoods , as age grades would team up together to start building houses collectively for one another, ONE BY ONE…free of charge.

In the olden days, life was so easy.The SOUTH lived a communal life. When a man reached the age of ịpụ obi, his age grade would contribute to building a house for him for free. He would also do the same for others.

No one got paid for doing so; it was free of charge. Community development was an important role and duty of pre-colonial Igbo society in the South East where the OTU OGBO was majorly practiced.

Everyone joyfully helped one another to stand as a man and have a shelter over their heads.

TRENDING : RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR ASSURES HONOUR FOR DECEASED NOLLYWOOD ACTOR, PRECIOUS OFURUM

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and Nollywood practitioners that deserving honor would be bestowed upon Precious Chimaobi Ofurum, a Rivers indigene tragically affected by the recent Asaba boat mishap, which also involved popular Nollywood actor Junior Pope.

During a visit to Government House, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, the Governor, represented by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr George Nwaeke, expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the late actor and commended the solidarity demonstrated by the Nollywood community. Governor Fubara emphasized the exemplary nature of Precious Chimaobi Ofurum's character, noting his dedication to Nigeria and his determination to succeed within the country.

"The passing of Precious Chimaobi Ofurum is indeed unfortunate, as he was already an exemplary Nigerian who demonstrated the success any determined person can achieve while remaining in the country," stated Governor Fubara.

Highlighting his Administration's commitment to supporting youth talent, Governor Fubara assured the bereaved family of appropriate recognition and support. He reiterated his dedication to making Rivers State proud and pledged to honor the memory of Precious Chimaobi Ofurum.

In his remarks, Mr Eric Stevenson, the convener of the solidarity visit, recounted the tragic incident that claimed the lives of several actors returning from a movie set in Asaba, Delta State. He expressed gratitude for the Governor's response and hoped that the State Government would act swiftly to provide comfort to the bereaved family.
