My mind is very vast. Subject and topics pop-up in my head so fast that I sometimes lose very creative ideas or visions when I don't write them down. I don't like job routines or even routine in relationships because I get bored of routines and tire easily. To keep my mind active and interested, you've got to switch up tasks and bring new challenges. But there are some routines that I deliberately keep up with and tap into because they bring creativity, awareness and healing. Some of them include solitude - I love my alone time, shower time, boring breakfast eaten at brunch tine, but most importantly my saturday morning routine.
Today, I was listening to Sarah Jakes-Robert while in the shower and when I was having my breakfast. She had titled her message “Mirrors and Models”. Her message got me thinking and it resurrected some thoughts that have been on my mind. Look around your office, your church, country, industry, family gatherings. There is one thing in common- “those in power and leadership positions are ageing”. They are getting to retirement age.
Maybe this is spurred by an earlier clip from Pst Femi Lazarus that I had seen on IG a few days back where he said that Bishop David Oyedipo is ageing and that Pst. E.A Adeboye now sits to preach during Holy Ghost Congress. He's 82 years old today, almost a century old.
Who are those taking over in our generation? I don’ t mean those who would love to be called big titles. I mean, those who can and are putting in the work required to withstand what they have withstood so far?
Let's take it away from the church. At your place of work, what is the succession line like? Are you among the succession line?
In your family, can you uphold your family as the next leader?
This year, and the next years to come are precarious and defining years.
Many of us have gotten so used to others leading and modelling for us that we have forgotten that the time has come for us to become leaders and models ourselves. According to Sarah Jake Roberts, a generation has gotten so comfortable with them taking the lead, that we want them to carry on with times that have our names on it.
The older generation are complaining that our generation is ill-prepared to handle leadership. They are looking for protégé that can carry out what has been put inside
For some, in family units, we never had models, but you can't keep complaining of not having models.
It is time for you to be a model, time for you to start thinking and acting like a manager, leader, entrepreneur, a Christian, a father and uncle, etc.
It is time to start working with the glory that we have been exposed to.
Some of us say that if we can't do it our way then it shouldn't be done at all. Don't shoot yourself in the foot.
I'd like to inform you that the next level requires sacrifice, learning and patience. And yes you will doubt yourself but you have to push on.
In order not to sound like another aspire to perspire message, I'd say don't just proceed or push on. Ask God for capacity for the level you desire or you may have already found yourself in.
The power that you need for this level is different from the one that you operated in your previous level. So do not vex or get frustrated when things don't work with the same formula like it used to.
Remember, our church leaders like Pst E.A Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, business, moguls and entrepreneurs like Tony Elumelu, Femi Oteodola, Dangote, MDs at organisation are ageing. They are getting to retirement age
Who will hold the church, country, family down?
God is too gracious to send you on a mission without the right spirit or capacity.
All you need to do is ask and after asking get to work. Remember faith without works is dead.
All the best,
C.N.Y
