“Rumah” (meaning Home in Bahasa Indonesia and Malay) - a program of unheard music by classical composers from Singapore and Indonesia, through which we uncover what home means to us. We are looking forward to have Elisabeth Goh and Madeline Saputra part in the next Echoes of Nothing concert, it will be this Thursday starting from 21:40 and the concert will happen in the main foyer of the Muziekgebouw. Upcoming Thursday 7 December 2023 you will be able to listen to our first public concert. 🥳

Toni and Ainhoa met in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam during their master studies in the Creative Performance Lab. They clicked immediately after creating, playing and performing together in the CPL. Since then, they have been investigating the use of the oboe, the voice, the spoken word in Arabic and Spanish with the electronics. The result is the creation of a journey of evoked images and soundscapes inspired by Lebanese and Spanish music. 🎶

They will play an intimate after-concert inspired by the elements of Dadaism and madness in the main concert that night by and .

We hope to see you there!! ♥️

The first event we contributed to was last week’s farewell evening for Maarten van Boven, the director of the Muziekgebouw. He will become the new director of the Conservatorium in Rotterdam.

Echoes of Nothing is a collaboration between the Muziekgebouw and CvA, which was spearheaded by Maarten himself.

His efforts have empowered the next generation of musicians, giving us the opportunity to enliven the public spaces of this beautiful building with out of the box thinking.

CvA Alumna Vera Morais and her ensemble EUPNEA performed one of Vera’s original compositions ‘mirror error‘.

Happy Easter Monday, everyone! 🌱🐇
We want to remember the fantastic evening of April 6, where we had the honor to welcome the project “Some like it modern” at the “Echoes of Nothing” series 2022/2023. It was such a colorful evening that surprised and fascinated the audience with the timbral qualities of the baritone saxophone and its ensemble with the piano, as well as the repertoire. Lots of musical excitement was to be found in ’s new piece commissioned by the duo, and thanks to Primo also for the introduction of his piece! Have a happy holiday, and hope to see you in our last performance of this season on May 14 at the ! 🎶

Please join us in the at 19:30 to listen to György Ligeti's epic piece "Síppal, Dobbal, Nádihegedüvel!
From the moment I listened to the version with the renowned Amadinda Quartet it has been a piece on my "bucket list"!

Echoes of Nothing Concert Series

There’s a silence in-between John Cage's 4’33”, the thus named grand café, and the spatial foyers of the Muziekgebouw. This silence has given rise to the concert series ’Echoes of Nothing’, curated by CvA students Viola Blache, Ramin Amin Tafreshi, Lorenz Rommelspacher. Each edition is linked to a concert in the main hall of the Muziekgebouw and takes place monthly before or after this event at 4'33 or in the open space of the unique building. Upcoming and creative musicians from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam reflect here on the concert with their own artistic ideas, concepts and formats.
