Novelo Vago is a contemporary music garage band characterized by an unconventional approach. Playful, experimental, sharp, and sometimes witty: the trio uses a mix of toy instruments, small percussion instruments, piccolo, s*x toys, whatnot! The band’s formation is rooted in a decade-long friendship, valuing fun and togetherness as key, above traditional rehearsal practices.

ELDER ONES + KAREN NG
Elder Ones is an experimental free jazz ensemble led by composer and vocalist Amirtha Kidambi featuring saxophonists Matt Nelson and Alfredo Colon, bassist Lester St. Louis, and drummer Jason Nazary. Kidambi’s voice weaves through intricate instrumentation with her characteristic syllabic, frenzied, and powerful utterances. They are joined on stage by improvisational musician and sax-wizard Karen Ng.
Amirtha Kidambi – vocals | Matt Nelson, Alfredo Colon, Karen Ng – saxophone | Lester St. Louis – bass | Jason Nazary – drums
JULIEN DESPREZ
Performing solo with only his guitar and effects pedals, Julien Desprez engages all the senses, placing the body and its movements at the heart of his practice. Here, he presents Agora, a twofold performance that plays with several points of view. A soft, explosive, and joyful trance merges polyrhythmics, high-voltage electricity, guitar, and body until their rupture and reconciliation. With playfulness and frenzy, a multiple world is negotiated through your listening.
The last tix are flying for the 27th of October in BIMHUIS! Next to Sun Ra Arkestra multiple amazing artists are performing, among them the contemporary legend Moor Mother with Lukas Koenig and the fresh FUUTUREJAZZ crew. 20:15-20:55 Moor Mother & Lukas Koenig
Through her work, vocalist and poet Camae Ayewa aka Moor Mother illuminates the principles of her multidisciplinary collaborative practice Black Quantum Futurism, a theoretical framework informed by historical Black ontologies. Multi-instrumentalist Lukas Koenig, who plays drums in Moor Mother’s band, has previously collaborated with the likes of David Murray, Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Steven Bernstein. DJ collective FUUTUREJAZZ – After the concert
Enter the sonic playground of FUUTUREJAZZ, an experimental electronic crew guided by the eternal spirit of jazz. Jazz, not strictly in the sense of swung drums and elaborate horn solo’s, but in it’s broader essence of taking conventions, bending and breaking them, of improvisation and playfulnes, of coming together and building something new. With them throwing parties Garage Noord and through their Echobox Radio residency, expect an end of the eve in style. 🎶 BIMHUIS X SPACE IS THE PLACE: SUN RA ARKESTRA | MOOR MOTHER & LUKAS KOENIG | FARIDA AMADOU & JASPER STADHOUDERS | FUUTURE JAZZ 27 October @ 19:30 – 28 October @ 01:00 BIMHUIS 50 YEARS

Getting ready for Saturday! Introducing you to these four of eight (!) acts performing:
LIA KOHL
Lia Kohl, a cellist, composer, and sound artist based in Chicago, engages in a wide-ranging practice that includes solo composition and performance, installation, improvisation, and collaboration. She tours both nationally and internationally, contributing to theater, jazz, rock, and experimental contexts. Kohl’s work centers on curiosity and patience, exploring the mundane and profound possibilities of sound.
Lia Kohl cello KNALPOT & GHAETH ALMAGHOOT
Over the past 17 years, Knalpot’s Gerri Jäger, Raphael Vanoli, and Sandor Caron (sound) have created a unique voice of their own. They are among the most uncompromising electronic rock acts of today and have performed extensively all over the globe. Key to their appeal are their vivid energy, stumble-grooves, and an omnipresent sense of joy, freedom and courageousness. This evening, they will perform with clarinetist Ghaeth Almaghoot, who is known for the major expressiveness in his playing. They will debut a new repertoire consisting of arrangements of traditional Palestinian songs that expresses their unconditional moral support for those affected by the decades-long, ongoing oppression and war on Palestine.
Ghaeth Almaghoot clarinet / duduk | Raphael Vanoli (bass) guitar, electronics | Gerri Jäger drums, electronics | Sandor Caron sound
DARONI TRIO Daroni Trio is a free improvisation project. Its members—Jesper Daroni, Leon Daroni & Sydney Daroni—perform the remnants of a shattered song that has been dragged through the mud. Open string guitar swells, non-tempo drum patterns and lyrics that arose while waiting in line for the cash register.
Sydney (Daroni) van Nieuwaal electric guitar & organetta | Leon (Daroni) van den Hoorn electric guitar | Jesper (Daroni) Vervoort drums & vocals
