The Kompaszaal was the KNSM business card right from the start — more than just a super-modern arrival hall, it was also meant for meetings, receptions, and parties. And the this cutting-edge space was impressive: filled with natural light, stylish decor and ... heated floors! The floors were covered with rubber coat that had a pattern of sixteen compass shapes. The choice of material was such that the foor is still intact (well, almost) - 70 years later! It was so beautiful that even squatters in the ’70s kept it well preserved. Come see for yourself ;)
De Kompaszaal was vanaf het begin het visitekaartje van de KNSM - meer dan een supermoderne aankomst en vertrekhal - het was ook een ruimte voor vergaderingen, recepties en partijen. Als een hypermoderne ruimte had het veel licht, stijlvole decoratie, volledig ingerichte keuken, en vloeren voorzien van vloerverwarming! De vloeren hadden ook en een rubbere vloerbedekking waarin een patroon van zestien kompasvormen was ingelegd. De vloer ligt er nog steeds, bijna 70 jaar al! Het was zo mooi dat zelfs krakers in jaren 70x haar liefdevol in ere hielden.
