After a brief period of reflection and re-invention, Galactic Funk is back with our first party in our brand new jacket courtesy of our good friend Filmmaker. Similar to when we had Dopplereffekt in OT301 back in 2021, we’ve invited the legendary Alessandro Adriani to light the torch for this new era of GF. He’s backed by top-shelf selectors and producers 543ff, Fien, and our own Bertram. Music starts at 8 and switches off around 3. Entrance is free so come get yourself a spot early. It’s going to be packed.

The summer heat keeps rolling with Kimmah on the series this week. The Rotterdam-based DJ and Pinkman resident has been making a steady set of waves. Named by DJ Mag as an emerging artist in June 2022, she favours higher tempos while delivering fast and funky electro to sweaty dance floors like no other, weaving influences and sounds from her Vietnamese heritage. Since her radio debut in May 2021, it’s been all systems go, with a non-stop string of appearances across the Netherlands’ best clubs, including BIT, Garage Noord, OOST, Perron, PIP and Poing. Whether she's closing Pinkman's 10-year anniversary in Rotterdam last month or closing next week at the lauded DT Camp festival, she's demonstrated a keen ability to deliver a cathartic finale. Lock in for an hour and catch a taste of trademark Kimmah.

We're incredibly pleased to welcome the Geneva-based duo Bound by Endogamy. They consist of Kleio Thomaïdes, who is a multidisciplinary artist and part of the lauded Savage Grounds band as the vocalist together with Florin Büchel and Lux Rec label head Daniel Cosmo. Shlomo Balexert comes from the Swiss punk and squat scene and his artistic work addresses social and environmental themes. The duo have been touring most of Europe and boasts releases on Lux Rec and their most recent EP on Dead Channel Records which blew us away when we first heard it. We can't wait to her their upcoming album on the French label CAF? in 2023. Their 80-minute long recording showcases their distinctive brand of raw post-punk, electro and post-industrial style. As the storm rages on here in Amsterdam, we welcome Trancesetters of Westphalia to the series. The project consists of DJ Ungel & Jonathan Suemer, both natives of the western state of Germany from Cologne and Dusseldorf respectively. Their EP 'Pulse of the Trees' was released on vinyl on the Junction Forest label. They run the recently launched Symbiotic nights in Cologne and kicked off the event series with Spekki Webu. Whether playing About Blank in Berlin or making appearances on Rinse FM, the duo applies a versatile approach to mixing various electronic, merging into one eclectic flow. Their recording is inspired by endless nights at Salon des Amateurs and focusses on experimental techno, trance and progressive-house from the 90's. Lock in.

We're chuffed to welcome Stakhan to the GF series. A digger and DJ for over a decade, he has become a mainstay and a true advocate for the music scene in Lyon. He is an active member of Lyl Radio from day one and his Planète Noire show on the station. He is the founder of the Tunnel Vision collective and was the artistic director of the Terminal Club for over 5 years. During his sets Stakhan offers a raw and metaphysical vision of music that ranges from early-rave, new beat, dark wave, dub and other electronic oddities. Lock in for an hour of trance-inducing cuts from one of Lyon's finest!

Next is E.L.I. for the summer season of the series. E.L.I. is the hardware-focused project of Mike Smith, aka Crossover Network, where he applies primitive machines and discordant vocals to his sound. He's blessing great labels with his sound such as Lifeforms, Exiled, MRT (Lux Rec). . He also has an upcoming prject with Up North Records label head, Lbeeze, as well as a release on a prominent Rotterdam-based label. Lock in for a an hour plus of bangin raw electronics from an upcoming talent.

He has been making a steady name for himself since 2021, releasing music on Carista’s United Identities and Who’s Susan in that same year. He is constantly evolving his signature style of psyched-out electro, bass, and spacey techno. His Primal X EP was released on the United Identities label last month and, true to its name, leans into a distinctive, primal dancefloor energy. For the first EP release of the series, Thrills in +41 blends rhythm and repetition using an extensive sound palette from both the 90s and early 00s. The series has already gained support from NZ, Dax J, Giant Swan, Ben UFO, Rhyw, I. Jordan, MCML###V (Herrensauna), Bake, Dax J, OM Unit Jennifer Cardini, Emerald (Rinse FM), Danielle, Chloe Robinson, Kikelomo, Elisa Bee en Jeff Solo. We're super happy to welcome Deborah X to the GF series. A founding member of Rotterdam’s Ampfemenine together, the collective is comprised of mega-talented residents and affiliates such as Nala Brown, Bella Hall, Soft Break and others. Since she started DJing in 2018, she's been racking up bookings for some of the biggest names in town including Garage Noord, Radio Radio, Horst Festival, Wildeburg, Dekmantel Selectors, among many others. Unrestrained by any single style, she swerves between underground electronics and future dancefloor classics via detours through percussive drum machine workouts, heavy basslines and warped breakbeats. Lock in for an hour of amped-up bangers from this killer up-and-coming selector.

We travel to Medellin this week for Erre Ye on the series. Previously known as Retrograde Youth, Erre Ye has been ingrained in the Colombian scene for over 10 years from making music to running parties and now in the academic field too. As his previous alias, he boasts releases on the mighty Pinkman, Gravitational Waves, and many others. He also boasts performances at Dekmantel, Boiler Room, and many others. An 18-month-long project born out of the pandemic, Búsqueda was initially an exercise in spontaneity as Erre Ye attempted to break out of a long creative block, trying new techniques and processes. The result is a science-fiction-inspired, extraterrestrial journey through darker sounds, brimming with unusual textures and exhilarating twists and turns. Lock in for a banging hour of his unique brand of electro.

We're excited to welcome DJ Shahmaran to the series. This Rotterdam-based DJ with Dutch and Kurdish roots is not your average selector. Focusing on energy rather than genre, DJ Shahmaran draws inspiration from rave, jungle, juke, electro; and more. He's channelled this energy and uninhibited approach across the country in renowned venues such as De School, Garage Noord, Was, OT301, Poing, and many others. In the process, sharing the stage with artists such as Sherelle, Alberta Balsam, Mary Lake, Batu, J-Zbel, Eris Drew, and many others. He is one to watch! This week we welcome Mocap to the series. The mysterious DJ and producer has been steadily cementing a strong presence with sick releases on Filmmaker's Body Musick label with the literally epic track 'White Bird' that enjoys heavy rotation. He is also featured on last year's Cyberjit VA alongside artists like Cyan85, Turk Turkleton, among others. His DJ and production style are a unique take on electro. He's blessed the series with an hour-plus of cinematic, banging electronics. Lock in.

This week in the series we welcome GAËL. He is a producer and DJ from Bogotá. He founded the Antimateria events series and co-heads the Pildoras Tapes label. The impressive label roster includes artists like Filmmaker, Neud Photo, Chris Mitchell, Red Deviil and many others. His sound is strongly influenced by electro, industrial, new beat and post-punk, adding his own take on this combination of genres. As a producer, he has released on labels like Home Mort, Body Musick, Soil Records, Drøne, Clandestine Records, Dystatik, as well as his own. Kicking off the new year is none other than GF friend marienus. With a firm dedication to raw electronics, he is a Rotterdam-based, Utrecht-originated dj, and a member of industrial posse public s*x regime. He is also part Operator Radio team and hosts his monthly No Soap Radio which has included guests such as Acidic Male, La Serpiente, swærm, and others. Over the years, he developed a distinctive sound and has played underground shows across the country. Lock in for an hour of trademark marienus who starts the series for 2023. Lock in!
