Last Thursday, and took the visitors of our ADE event on a sonic journey that explored the connection between ancient principles and modern sound healing. ✨
🎶 Evenaris took us deep into electronic soundscapes using tuning forks and the monochord, showing us the connection between music and spirituality.
🔮 Derek Lomas, PhD shared fascinating insights on cymatics and the hidden principles of resonance 🔊 and how it connects us to the universe. ✨ He also demonstrated glasses that use specific light patterns to make you see all kinds of geometric shapes. 👁️
The performances alternated with deep discussions with the audience and even a spontaneous collaboration with Sufi singer , who performed 14th-century Sufi songs. Showing us the way music can connects us all. 💫
Thank you all for joining us in this amazing event!

This Thursday: Lecture Judaism, Spirituality, and European Emancipation in the 19th Century: The case of Heinrich Heine (online and at EFM)
In 1819, a few young students came together to establish the ‘Association for the Culture and Science of Judaism’ ('Verein für Cultur und Wissenschaft der Juden’). Whilst some of them followed philosophical courses of Hegel and others studied law, they all had a common question that would remain relevant up until today: What is modern Judaism and how to be a modern Jew? In 1822, Heinrich (born Harry) Heine joined the Verein, who would one day become one of the most famous German writers, known for his wit, poetry, religious and political writings. He was a paragon of his generation, and wandered between Jewish and non-Jewish, German and Parisian, and religious and secular worlds. After his studies in law and the humanities, he converted to Protestantism and eventually married a Catholic Frenchwoman, but never really left Judaism. In Paris, he was in contact with the philosophy of the Saint-Simonists (a pre-Marxist, utopian socialist movement), befriended Parisian elite, and joined a Freemason Lodge in 1844. He, and many contemporaries, were also aware of the writings of Jacob Boehme and Emanuel Swedenborg. During this lecture, we will explore modern Judaism, emancipation developments, and religious plurality in 19th Century Germany and beyond. It will introduce the life and work of Harry Heine, his contemporaries, and his struggle on how to relate to religion, spirituality, and God in a modern world.
When? 19 September, 7:30 pm Amsterdam Time
Where? Hybrid on location (Embassy of the Free Mind) and online via Zoom

The Embassy of the Free Mind is a platform for Free Thinking.
Free thinking is the ability to formulate your own thoughts and ideas, independently, free and unhampered and regardless of your religion, culture or age. Free thinking is of all times, and connects our history with the present.
In the Embassy of the Free Mind we focus on Hermetic wisdom: the connection between God, cosmos and man. This wisdom is collected in the 25,000 books of the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica. The authors of these books, our heroes, were freethinkers whose ideas were often not accepted by church and state, but who to this day inspire us towards a better understanding of ourselves, the world around us and the direction we can give to our own lives.
We are happy to share this wisdom and invite you to also share your ideas about, or your expertise with respect to, this connection between God, cosmos and man on our platform.
The Embassy of the Free Mind is to be found in the renowned House with the Heads on 123, Keizersgracht in Amsterdam.
Opened by American author Dan Brown, the Embassy of the Free Mind is open to the public from 1 November 2017 and offers a versatile programme that includes a museum experience tours, talks, debates, lectures, concerts and conferences.
