TILT presenteert het werk van Jack Brandsma in de expositie Old Socks, New Shoes. Jack toont hoe zijn oude werk en zijn actuele werk zich tot elkaar verhouden. In zijn ontwerpen vormt onderzoek naar vorm en materiaal de basis; Jack onderzoekt de laatste jaren alternatieven voor conventionele kunststoffen.
In zijn materiaalonderzoek experimenteert hij enerzijds met de toepassingsmogelijkheden van bestaande (bio)materialen, maar onderzoekt hij ook eigen materialen zoals de combinatie van hennep, aardappelzetmeel en magnesium. Dat levert niet alleen mooie verhalen op – op het snijvlak van Dutch Design en Willie Wortel – het resulteert ook in verrassende ontwerpen.

TILT presents the work of Jack Brandsma in the exhibition Old Socks, New Shoes. Jack shows how his old work and his current work relate to each other. In his designs, research into form and material forms the basis; in recent years, Jack has been researching alternatives to conventional plastics.
In his material research, he experiments with the application possibilities of existing (bio)materials on the one hand, but he also researches his own materials such as the combination of h**p, potato starch and magnesium. This not only produces beautiful stories – at the intersection of Dutch Design and Gyro Gearloose – it also results in surprising designs.
