Hooray! Today we celebrate 1 year of our crazy good Food Program at . Thanks for trusting in us to contribute for your happy and healthy team!
Here at Join Program, we donât use avocados in our preparations. Want to know why? In this new series - How To - we share tips, recipes, and why we swap some ingredients in your daily meal to make it more delicious and sustainable.
So, to grow an avocado tree, tons of water are needed - and to be able to deliver a high amount of the worldâs consumption demands, it also becomes an environmental threat to fauna and flora. So next time you crave guacamole, try this green pea dip instead: a delicious and environmentally friendly alternative for your beloved guac.
2 cups frozen green peas
2 Tbsp lime juice
3 garlic cloves, minced
Âź cup red onion, diced
½ cup fresh cilantro
½ jalapeùo pepper, minced (optional) OR ½ red pepper, chopped and without the seeds (optional)
½ tsp salt (more to taste)
Âź tsp freshly ground black pepper (more to taste if needed)
1 Tbsp olive oil
1. Run the frozen peas under warm water to thaw them. Drain them thoroughly.
2. Place the green peas in a food processor and process to a paste, stopping to scrape down the sides as necessary.
3. Put the paste into a bowl and combine the lime juice, garlic, red onion, cilantro, jalapeno, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
4. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy!
