It’s been a while. So here is a small little update.

At the moment we’re looking on how to divide the generous amount of donated money. This money will be used to reimburse as much as possible of all the perished instruments, art and kitchen equipment. So that everyone can keep doing what they do best.

We’re also looking into the possibility of a new start. Unfortunately we can’t disclose too much at this time but one thing is for sure. We will be back.

Lieve Stroomhuis-lovers,

Tijd om jullie wat inzicht te geven in hoe we doorgaan nadat ons geliefde thuis in een hoop puin is veranderd.
In overleg met de gemeente is gister besloten de overgebleven muren af te breken vanwege instortingsgevaar. Dat is met ons besproken en wij staan unaniem achter deze beslissing. Spullen die gered kunnen worden zal de gemeente voor ons op een aparte lokatie verzamelen.
Veel mensen willen graag weten hoe de brand ontstaan is. Dat zal helaas nooit met zekerheid vast te stellen zijn. Wel duidelijk is dat de brand pas echt begon toen de CV ketel ontplofte, door wat voor oorzaak dan ook. Brandstichting is in elk geval uitgesloten.
We zijn allemaal ontzettend blij dat er niemand iets is overkomen.
Vlak voor de brand stonden de gemeente Eindhoven en Stroomhuis / Amaro Creative Industries op het punt om een samenwerkingsovereenkomst voor de komende 15-20 jaar te tekenen. Het Stroomhuis zou een cruciale rol gaan spelen in de ontwikkeling van de Spoorzone. In die onderhandelingen was al sprake van het betrekken van de parkeergarage en het parkeerdek naast het Stroomhuis. We willen het Stroomhuis zo snel als kan op deze plek voortzetten.
Met de fundraiser willen we de gebruikers van Stroomhuis helpen om hun instrumenten en gereedschap te vervangen zodat ze hun activiteiten voort kunnen zetten. Daarbij horen vervolgens tijdelijke studios en een doorstart op onze geliefde locatie.
We zullen een agenda bijhouden op onze social media met activiteiten georganiseerd door Stroomhuis-supporters, zowel lokaal als internationaal. Stroomhuis gaat door zonder subsidie van de gemeente. Stroomhuis vervult al 25 jaar een unieke rol in de gemeenschap, en dat willen we blijven doen – zonder afhankelijkheid.
Dank aan onze vrienden van Downtown Palmela, de organisatoren van de NoFun-draiser, Burgers, de Design Academy, Effenaar en zovelen meer. De hartverwarmende steun vanuit alle hoeken van de wereld, van over de hele wereld tot andere continenten aan toe, geeft ons de kracht om door te gaan.

Dear Stroomhuis Lovers,
It’s time to share some insights on how we are moving forward with Stroomhuis after our beloved second home has turned into rubble. In consultation with the municipality, it was decided yesterday to demolish the remaining walls due to the risk of collapse. This decision was discussed with us, and we unanimously support it. The municipality will collect items that can be salvaged and store them at a separate location for us.
Many people are eager to know how the fire started. Unfortunately, it will never be possible to determine this with certainty. What is clear is that the fire only really began when the boiler exploded, for reasons unknown. Arson has been ruled out. We are all incredibly relieved that no one was harmed.
Just before the fire, the municipality of Eindhoven and Stroomhuis / Amaro Creative Industries were on the verge of signing a cooperation agreement for the next 15-20 years. Stroomhuis was set to play a crucial role in the development of the Spoorzone. These negotiations already included the involvement of the parking garage and the parking deck next to Stroomhuis. We aim to continue Stroomhuis as soon as possible at this location.
With the fundraiser, we want to help the users of Stroomhuis to replace their instruments snd tools so they may continue their activities. This lateron includes temporary studios and a restart at our beloved location. We will keep an agenda on our social media with activities organized by Stroomhuis supporters, both locally and internationally. Stroomhuis will continue without subsidies from the municipality. For 25 years, Stroomhuis has played a unique role in the community, and we intend to keep doing so – without dependency.

Update: 19-10-’24

Dear Stroomhuis Lovers,

As most of you have already heard, the fire flared up again last night, which led to the decision to partially demolish the building in order to fully extinguish the fire. We understand that this raises many questions.

Our community is shocked to see that the building is now largely being demolished. We share your pain, as this means that a significant portion of everything inside is now definitively lost. We would like to reiterate that we will not speculate about the cause, and we ask you to do the same.
We would like to express our gratitude to the fire department, the municipality, and other emergency organisations for their cooperation and support. We are particularly grateful to the municipality of Eindhoven for trying to strike a balance in this crisis between safety and the preservation of the cultural heritage, both of the building and everything that happens inside Stroomhuis. Even though it may not seem that way during the demolition, we know that a lot of work is happening behind the scenes to create a future perspective.

Dear Stroomhuis lovers,

On Thursday morning October 17, Rosa and Rosalie were woken up by the fire, less than an hour after the last staff had left last night’s show. We are so grateful that nobody got hurt, all of the residents (including the cat) are mostly just shocked. Our hearts are broken to see every piece of creativity and community that we poured into this place over the last 25 years, turned into ashes.
•
Many of our group have been severely impacted in their livelihood and housing. Literally decades worth of creative work are gone. Some of us lost everything we have made over the last 5, 10, and even 35 years. In addition, there are countless instruments and equipment used by musicians and artists from all over the city, which are stored in the Stroomhuis. Stroomhuis has been the heart of our community for so many people in Eindhoven and far beyond.
•
We don’t know what the cause of the fire is, and we won’t be making any statements about it. Thank you for all the expressions of support and kind messages, they mean a lot to us ❤️. Thanks to these messages, we have even more reason to figure out how to move forward, because we must keep going!

For now, we will keep this statement brief, as we are still processing what has happened. This GoFundMe is a starting point, and we will keep you posted.

Op 14 oktober is het alweer tijd voor de 2e editie van het Stroomcafe!
Tussen de kleine berg, de grote berg, de bergstraat en de heuvel galerie ontstond een klein bergcafe waar je je skis kan parkeren en wat lekkers van LEF kan komen eten.
Klei je eigen klimgreep, teken een berg op onze bar of nog beter: neem iets berg-gerelateerds mee voor op de muur en je krijgt een gratis drankje!
Elke week vanaf 5 uur met bergen activiteiten en “hoog”waardige performances. Ben jij bezig met performance? kunst? poëzie? sculpturen? muziek? eten? film? of iets anders berggerelateerd? Laat het ons weten via [email protected]

On October 14th it is time for the 2nd edition of the Stroomcafe!
Between the kleine berg, the grote berg, the heuvel gallery and the bergstraat a small mountain cafe was created where you can park your skis, come in for a drink and eat something tasty from LEF.
Clay your own climbing hold, draw a mountain on our bar or even better: bring something mountain-related for the wall and you will get a free drink!
