This week we interviewed Silke from .vintage.
WHO
My name is Silke from .vintage & . In last week’s interview, I told you all about Miss Billy, and this week, I’ll be sharing some insights into KABOOM Vintage.
WHAT
This is my 8th year at Plug-in City with Miss Billy. For about a year now, I’ve been busy setting up KABOOM Vintage. I have two studios at Plug-in City: one creative studio and one showroom and workspace for KABOOM Vintage.
I feel very lucky to have been able to expand my space within Plug-in City. I absolutely love the vibe here. Strijp-S is such an inspiring and creative place, honestly, I wouldn’t want to live or work anywhere else. This truly feels like home.
WORK
I’ve had a passion for vintage for as long as I can remember. I used to run my own vintage shop back in the day, and now with KABOOM Vintage, I’m focusing mainly on B2B. I work as a vintage buyer for several shops, curating special, handpicked vintage pieces.
On top of that, I’ve just launched a reworked vintage collection, the first items have dropped, and more exciting pieces are on the way!
I love supporting shops that already carry a strong brand selection by offering vintage items that align with their aesthetic and help make their collection a bit more sustainable. No old or dusty stuff, just a curated selection of standout vintage pieces that blend effortlessly with modern brands. Interested as a shop owner? Feel free to reach out!
Private customers are also welcome! See something you like on my socials? Or want something custom-made? I’m happy to help.
WHUT
Did you know we throw away around 15 million kilos of textiles every year in the Netherlands? Only half is recycled, the rest is burned. Globally, the fashion industry accounts for about 10% of CO₂ emissions. Producing one pair of jeans takes 8,000 liters of water, enough drinking water for one person for 10 years. Shockingly, we already have enough clothing to dress the next 6 to 7 generations.
By buying from KABOOM Vintage, you’re saving a garment from the landfill and giving it a second life. Plus, vintage pieces are often better quality and truly one-of-a-kind.
