Usva - Cultureel Studentencentrum Welcome to the Cultural Student Center of Groningen! Come to one of our events, join a course or become part of our crew!

Bij Usva kun je allerlei cursussen volgen op het gebied van kunst en cultuur. Ook organiseren we evenementen en zijn er wekelijks toffe voorstellingen te zien in ons theater. Daarnaast ondersteunt Usva studenten die een cultureel project op poten willen zetten, op zowel op financieel gebied als facilitair gebied en met kennis en kunde. Naast dit aanbod is er ook de mogelijkheid om zalen of het theater te huren.

The third and final lecture of the Animal Encounters series will be given by Dr. Ivo Smits, discussing human-cat relationships: 🐈

“Chasing Cats? Modern Japanese Literature in The Netherlands and in Japan”

This lecture deals with the specific place that much recently translated literature from Japan occupies in the Japanese literary world. It will be revealed why animals play less of a role in modern Japanese literature than is sometimes assumed.

When? Tuesday 20 May at 20.30.
Where? In the Usva Theatre, Munnekeholm 10.

Het is op 19 mei tijd voor de allerlaatste Usva Open Mic van dit academisch jaar! Mocht je dus nog op het podium willen schitteren, dan is dit je allerlaatste kans. Je krijgt 7-8 minuten om je comedy, poëzie, liedjes of andere performance te laten zien.

Why does genocide happen and why are we not treating each genocide the same? It is hard believing in people when you see what they do to one another. Especially when countries could intervene, but don't do this.

During this night Professor Marcel Brus will explain more about the reactions to genocide within international law.

Esther van der Morst of Plant een Olijfbool will join us and explain more what you can do on an individual level. After which we open the floor to questions.
