Welcome to the Cultural Student Center of Groningen! Come to one of our events, join a course or become part of our crew!

Bij Usva kun je allerlei cursussen volgen op het gebied van kunst en cultuur. Ook organiseren we evenementen en zijn er wekelijks toffe voorstellingen te zien in ons theater. Daarnaast ondersteunt Usva studenten die een cultureel project op poten willen zetten, op zowel op financieel gebied als facilitair gebied en met kennis en kunde. Naast dit aanbod is er ook de mogelijkheid om zalen of het theater te huren.

Meet the Usva Student Board of 2025-2026 🎶

Salut🥕 I am Vlad, this year’s secretary and internal coordinator at Usva. I am mainly responsible for handling the crew activities and the recruitment process. Additionally, I am the external point of contact for Usva, I am the one taking the minutes during the meetings, and I also make sure everyone feels welcomed and heard within the crew.
Outside Usva, I am a 3rd year Computing Science student at RUG, who loves solving (and sometimes creating) problems😁. I enjoy everything food-related, such as discovering new recipes when I go to the market, talking to people like your grandma, and learning about different dishes. I love talking to strangers, not only for cooking tips, but also because I enjoy judging, observing, and learning about different experiences. This is how I manage to constantly work on my communication and interpersonal skills.

A year ago I discovered Usva, when I decided to apply for the Live Support committee. Through this experience I managed to meet a lot of people, and get in the Usva community. The passion put in every single event has always been inspiring, which is mainly why I decided to apply for a board year. This experience feels very exciting already, but I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year will bring for me.

Meet the Usva Student Board of 2025-2026 🎶

Hello! I am Nur, the Marketing and Design specialist at Usva. In collaboration with the design committee, I produce and distribute marketing material such as posters, social media posts and merch! Graphic design has been a great interest of mine, as I have always been a creative individual. I am also interested in all kinds of commercial design, including motion graphics, typography, 3D animation, product design and brand identity! During my work at Usva, I have gained valuable experience in the design field, and will continue to use this knowledge throughout my career!

Outside of Usva, I spend my free time playing the electric guitar and listening to music. (and saving up money to go to concerts!) I write my own songs and am hoping to start a band soon!

Meet the Usva Student Board of 2025-2026 🎶

Heyo everyone! I am Himali Sharma, the events coordinator and vice chair at Usva student board this year. I am responsible for organizing multiple events like Open Mics, SHOOT!, Groningen Got Talent, and the Culture Festival.
I am a Bachelor’s International Business student. It’s hard to describe what I like in a few words, as I like to try everything and fall in love with new hobbies very quickly. I enjoy various activities like acting, cooking, dancing, drawing and debating. In my free time, I like to join extra business competitions to learn more.

I was part of Usva last year as a member of the O-Swap committee and this year I look forward to organizing more fun events with this amazing community. I hope to learn more about myself as a person while making fun and lifelong memories with Pien, Vlad, Inez and Nur.

Meet the Usva Student Board of 2025-2026 🎶

Hi, my name is Inez and I am the treasurer of the student board. This means I approve the grant applications and am in charge of our budget. Aside from that I also am responsible for planning events, together with the rest of the board. I spend my days in the office mostly examining Excel documents, brainstorming with the rest of the board and playing solitaire when no one is looking.

Outside of my task at Usva I am a sociology student and project coordinator at Groningenlife. My free time is spent on scouting and climbing! I also like to do crafts and dance.

I started my time at Usva because I like organizing events. I am staying because I get to do this with the amazing people walking around at Usva. The rest of my year will be full of great opportunities and fun projects that I look forward to!

Hi everyone! I’m Pien, this year’s chair of the Usva Student Board. 🍁 As chair, I’m responsible for keeping in contact with external parties, organising meetings, and planning events.

I recently finished my bachelor’s in English Language and Culture and am planning to start a master’s next year! Outside of Usva, I enjoy reading, acting, and going to the movies. Last year I visited the Flicks film festival, which reminded me of all the cool things happening at Usva and inspired me to apply for the board. So far, no regrets!
I hope to meet many of you at our upcoming activities! ☀️

Wat voor ‘academic weapon’ ben jij? De Rijksuniversiteit Groningen biedt sinds dit jaar een career minor aan om studenten op te leiden tot reservist. Wat betekent deze ontwikkeling voor de toekomst van het onderwijs? Is de universiteit aan het militariseren?

Op donderdagavond 4 december om 20.30 uur organiseert Usva een paneldiscussie in het theater, waar we deze vragen en meer proberen te beantwoorden.
