If you'll ever experience our behind the scenes you'll notice how much work there's to even just turn the location into the dream we call ROJ.

We always look for 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 who vibe with our values and are 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘂𝘀, in exchange for a reduced price the team joyn us one day earlier and leaves after the festival is closed, taking good care of the venue and bonding with the core team.

Thank you, Illze, Erica and Gumi for bringing this fascinating experience into existence. I loved the organization, the details, the beauty of the place.

For me it was a 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝗼𝗳-𝗮-𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 because of the multiple dimensions of self-exploration, growth and human interaction that we collectively experienced in a surreal, safe and 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺-𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀. ✨ For me it was a truly transformative and impactful experience that I cherish.

I can't finish this review without mentioning our phenomenal chef/mathematician, Beatrice. I had 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. Thank you Beatrice for adding this amazing culinary dimension to our experience at Root of Joy.

I think I have just started a journey to discover my root of joy! See you next time. With lots of love.

It’s been two months since ROJ took place in the fairyland of Kesteren!
Still feel the ripples of its impact: the energy we created together, the deep conversations, the laughter with a soft guitar in the background, and the quiet moments of reflection are in our core like a warm, glowing light.

The practices — connecting with nature, embodiment, arts, systemic coaching, rituals, theatre, and hypnotherapy — were a grounding compass to 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆.

What’s truly special, though, is the ongoing connection happening within the community. ✨🥨🍃 It’s as if we’re still empowering and inspiring each other, even from a distance.

Did you say italian chef?
Yes, you got it right: handmade gnocchi, banana bread in the morning, 3 kind of hummus, veggy menu...we're hungry just by remembering!

Proud to say all the cooks we have are SO incredibly talented, and Bea this year brought not only yummy food to feed our belly with joy but also a lot of kindness and a humble warm presence.

Together we rise ✨ Community is where we find mutual support and a collective vision for the society we aim to create and grow towards.

Root of Joy is not only a festival and a retreat, but a vision: we believe that nowadays thriving alone is not enough, and also...it's not that interesting!

Individualism is over, we're planting seeds of awareness so we can be more in touch with our inner compass AND a network that can cheer us up during the process of self-discovery.

Plenty of studies have shown that strong social ties not only improve mental health but increase our resilience during hard times. 🌳

Joy is a sparkle in the blink of an eye.

To be guided by joy is to 𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘇𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, the overflowing suffering around, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲.

Why do we keep a small group with all this space?

The camping is also home of one of ROJ creators, so we aim for a small group of very committed participants. We want you with a full yes and we also want to make sure that the venue stays cosy and cared for.

🌈 Part of creating this event in the Netherlands is the weather: rain is always an option! So be ready for the unexpected, bring layered clothes and enjoy what is, trusting that is always what is needed.

Activities are outdoor under a big circus tent, and we also have an inside small training room where we also eat and cook! It's a living space and we treat it as our home. 🌿
