Castlefest is a medieval/fantasy festival in the Netherlands, held on the first weekend of August in the gardens of Castle Keukenhof in Lisse since 2005.

La Horde will join us at Castlefest 2025! Does this band need an introduction? They’ve been on our stage in pyjamas, gym suits and even just underwear. You don’t want to miss their pyjama party with legendary pillow fight!

They bring us folk music full of winks and geek references. This crazy bunch pours on stage a desire to party with the public, whatever the cost. They bring an elaborate repertoire of original compositions and revisited traditional folk songs, taking the audience on a journey that they will not soon forget.

At the crossroads of Irish Celtic music and modern electro rhythms, Green Lads set sail. In their green costumes, with their catchy melodies and crackling steps, they create an energetic picture with irresistibly danceable sounds!

Green Lads is first and foremost a story of encounters, a project that has been enriched over the years by the talent of each of its passionate five artists : 2 fiddlers, 1 flutist, 1 guitarist/uilleann piper and 1 tap dancer, to make the music vibrate right down to the audience's feet: a unique show!

Listen to the wonderful ‘world music’ from Dikanda. They take you on extremely emotional journeys through ethnic sounds, zestful meetings full of charisma, energy and true feelings.
What sets Dikanda apart is creating new words in their lyrics, thus forming their genuine language - “dikandish”. The most important element of their artistic work is the message – a special relation between the musicians and the audience.

#ThrowbackThursday: Percussionist Rob van Barschot - artist page is a familiar face at Castlefest, having performed many times over the last decade, both with bands and during his GUDA drum workshops. Last year, the GUDA drum took center stage with his Project Baraguda. This unique musical journey served as the Castlefest opening act on Thursday, and we couldn't think of a more relaxing way of starting our festival in 2023.

Imagine yourself in a completely different world at Castlefest, the Fantasy festival of the Netherlands. fest for young and old, where, as soon as you enter the gates, you find yourself in the Other World. Castlefest is a total experience with lots of music, fantasy writers, themed catering, medieval crafts and a large market which offers everything a fantasy fan is looking for.

A large amount of bands are performing at the various festival stages, from Pagan Folk to World Music, from Medieval Rock to Indie. In short, for each music lover his own!

Castlefest characterises itself by a unique ambiance. This makes that regular visitors are looking forward to the next edition a year in advance. It creates a feeling where you find yourself in a completely different world, causing a daze and homesickness for weeks after the event took place.

The Castlefest-feeling is difficult to define, but something everyone needs to experience themselves. The highlight of the festival is the Wicker Ritual. Together with visitors, bands, exhibitors, entertainers, caterers and the staff you are living towards the moment the Wickerman is lit. The energy that is then released is a special experience that cannot be missed.
