Opus 16 Concerten is dedicated to bringing international classical music performing artists to community audiences. With three successful seasons in Heythuysen, we have recently expanded to the beautiful Ursulinenconvent Museum in Eijsden, NL.

Maak kennis met de Opus 16 artiest Sadie Fields !

De Canadees-Britse violiste Sadie Fields heeft een internationale carrière als solist, kamermusicus en artistiek leider. Ze woont in Brussel en heeft opgetreden door heel Europa, Noord-Amerika, Azië en verder. Momenteel is ze de leider van het beroemde Edinburgh Quartet. Sadie is oprichter van verschillende ensembles, waaronder het Flash Ensemble en Trio Khnopff, en haar opnamen hebben prijzen gewonnen, zoals de “Chamber Disc of the Month” van BBC Music Magazine en een 5-sterren recensie van Diapason. 🎵

🎓 Ze heeft een Dr.- titel van de Royal Academy of Music in Londen en is een actieve docent, organisator en mentor. Naast haar optredens is ze de organisator van de Mini Concerts-serie in Brussel en de artistiek leider van de Music in Rannoch concertserie in de Schotse Hooglanden.

Meet the Opus 16 artist: Sadie Fields

Canadian-British violinist Sadie Fields has an international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and artistic director. Based in Brussels, she has performed across Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond, and currently leads the renowned Edinburgh Quartet. Sadie is a founding member of several ensembles, including the Flash Ensemble and Trio Khnopff, and her recordings have earned accolades such as BBC Music Magazine’s “Chamber Disc of the Month” and a Diapason 5-star review. 🎵

🎓 She holds a PhD from the Royal Academy of Music in London and is an active educator, organiser, and mentor. Alongside performing, she organises the Mini Concerts series in Brussels and is the artistic director of the Music in Rannoch concert series in the Highlands of Scotland.

Curious about our upcoming meditative program on Saturday, May 10?

Here are some details about the program (below in Dutch for our Dutch fans!)

On May 10, violinist Sadie Fields and pianist Michelle Lynne will provide a program that creates space for peace, attention and depth. In these carefully selected works, romance and introspection come together, with music that lends itself to a quiet listening moment.

You will hear, among other things, Claude Debussy's Sonata in G minor for Violin and Piano, a work that is filled with impressionistic colors and a dreamy atmosphere. Rebecca Clarke's Midsummer Moon evokes the poetry of a quiet summer evening, while Lili Boulanger's Nocturne et Cortège and Charlotte Sohy's Thème Varié radiate subtle emotions and calm. The evening is given extra depth by contemporary Canadian compositions by, among others, Imant Raminsh, which subtly connect to the meditative atmosphere of the program.

The supporting program is provided by students of the Maastricht Conservatory: Sally Nickels, Lance Weisen and Alexandra Săndulescu, who will perform works by Ian Clarke and Yuko Uebayashi, in which breath and silence are central.
An evening of musical tranquility and reflection, which forms the perfect conclusion to this season - you are most welcome!

Op 10 mei verzorgen violiste Sadie Fields en pianiste Michelle Lynne een programma dat ruimte schept voor rust, aandacht en verdieping. In deze zorgvuldig gekozen werken komen romantiek en introspectie samen, met muziek die zich leent voor een verstild luistermoment.

U hoort onder andere Claude Debussy’s Sonate in G mineur voor Viool en Piano, een werk dat doorspekt is met impressionistische kleuren en een dromerige sfeer. Rebecca Clarke’s Midsummer Moon roept de poëzie van een stille zomeravond op, terwijl Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne et Cortège en Charlotte Sohy’s Thème Varié subtiele emoties en kalmte uitstralen. De avond krijgt extra gelaagdheid door hedendaagse Canadese composities van onder anderen Imant Raminsh, die op subtiele wijze aansluiten bij de meditatieve sfeer van het programma.

Het voorprogramma wordt verzorgd door studenten van Conservatorium Maastricht: Sally Nickels, Lance Weisen en Alexandra Săndulescu, die werken van Ian Clarke en Yuko Uebayashi uitvoeren, waarin adem en stilte centraal staan.

Lestari Scholtes (1984) trad op als solist en met haar ensembles Pianoduo Scholtes & Janssens en Trio 258 in gerenommeerde zalen wereldwijd, waaronder het Concertgebouw en Carnegie Hall. Ze soleerde met toporkesten en won internationale prijzen met haar pianoduo.

Ze studeerde bij Ton Demmers en Jan Wijn, volgde masterclasses bij o.a. Menahem Pressler en is actief als jurylid, masterclass docent en artistiek leider van verschillende muziekseries. Ook programmeert ze klassieke concerten en is gast samensteller bij Podium Klassiek.

In 2024 werd haar solo-debuutalbum met werken van Chopin uitgebracht.

Mother/Nature coming to Maastricht 🌿

On Friday, February 21, experience a beautiful classical concert in Kapel Opveld, Maastricht.

Soprano and pianist will bring an evening of breathtaking music, featuring works by Copland, Strauss, and Pfitzner, exploring themes of nature, earth, and the cycle of life and death.

The evening opens with talented students, (cello) and (guitar), performing stunning pieces by Debussy & De Falla.
